James McFadden says Celtic\u2019s decision to let Greg Taylor leave in the summer was a poor call.<\/p>\n

At the moment, Celtic have fan favourite Kieran Tierney and Boca Juniors loanee Marcelo Saracchi<\/a> as their left-back options.<\/p>\n

But Tierney hasn\u2019t reached top form yet, while we are yet to see what Uruguayan international Saracchi can bring to the team.<\/p>\n

Tierney\u2019s fitness has been questioned<\/a> at the beginning of this season, and McFadden<\/a> thinks Celtic are really missing Taylor<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Taylor decided to leave Celtic for Greek side PAOK<\/a> at the end of his contract, even though Brendan Rodgers was very keen on keeping him.<\/p>\n

Celtic<\/a> offered Taylor new terms, but the former Kilmarnock man decided not to put pen to paper and moved on for a new challenge.<\/p>\n

But McFadden, speaking on Open Goal, has suggested that Celtic should have done more to keep him.<\/p>\n

McFadden: \u201cThere\u2019s another one we\u2019ve not really spoke about, Greg Taylor. Letting Greg Taylor leave was a terrible decision.<\/p>\n

Derek Ferguson: \u201cWhy did they not just give him the money? Wee Scottish guy, look what he\u2019s done. He\u2019s a 7\/10 every week, isn\u2019t he? You trust him. Why not just give him the money?<\/p>\n

Si Ferry: \u201cBut maybe it was more the fact that he didn\u2019t want to stay because he was going to be second choice. What can you then do?<\/p>\n

McFadden: \u201cI don\u2019t think he was looking for a fortune, and I don\u2019t think he was offered anything close to what he was wanting \u2013 I don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taylor says PAOK stint \u2018enjoyable\u2019 so far<\/p>\n

Taylor appeared via video link<\/a> on the BBC\u2019s post-match coverage of Scotland\u2019s 2-0 win over Belarus, as he gave an insight into what Scotland can expect from Greece next month.<\/p>\n

He also explained what is different about playing in Greece compared to Scotland, and what the standards are like.<\/p>\n

Taylor said: \u201cThe kick-offs are quite a bit later here, because of the temperature, so it\u2019s getting a bit used to with that.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe standard has actually been good. We\u2019ve got a lot of good players, international players, and it\u2019s been enjoyable.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s important to get playing regularly out here, and hopefully if my form is good enough and I\u2019m playing as regularly as I\u2019d like, the national team stuff will take care of itself.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"James McFadden says Celtic\u2019s decision to let Greg Taylor leave in the summer was a poor call.
