Ruben Amorim has told Manchester United supporters that he is \u201csuffering more than them\u201d and will \u201cgive everything\u201d to turn the club\u2019s fortunes around.<\/p>\n
Phil Foden\u2019s opener and Erling Haaland\u2019s brace consigned United to a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in the 197th Manchester derby at the Etihad on Sunday.<\/p>\n
United have lost two of their opening four Premier League games, having finished 15th last season under Amorim, who has taken just 31 points from his first 31 top-flight games in charge.<\/p>\n
Amorim accepted that record will invite pressure and criticism, but believes that his side are improving compared to last season, and vowed to do all in his power to achieve better results.<\/p>\n
When asked if he had a message for the supporters who might be losing faith, Amorim said: \u201cMy message is that I am going to give everything. I will do everything, always thinking about what is best for the club. That was always the same message.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is not my decision, the rest. Until I am here, I will do my best. I really want to win games. I am suffering more than them.\u201d<\/p>\n
Amorim has repeatedly insisted that he will not deviate from his favoured 3-4-2-1 system, which has seen players like captain Bruno Fernandes moved out of their natural position.<\/p>\n
The United head coach again suggested on Sunday that the club\u2019s hierarchy would need to sack him if they want to see a shift in tactical approach.<\/p>\n
\u201cI understand (the criticism) and I accept. It is not a record you should have in Manchester United. There are a lot of things.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou have no idea what happened during these months but I accept that. I am not going to change. When I want to change my philosophy, I will change. If not, you have to change the man.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe talk about that every game that we lose. I don\u2019t believe in that in the system or whatever. I believe in my way and I am going to play my way until I want to change.\u201d<\/p>\n
Four points after four games is United\u2019s worst start to a top-flight season since 1992-93, and already leaves them five points adrift of fourth-placed Bournemouth.
