On Wednesday, July 16, La La Anthony shared pictures of herself on Instagram, in which she can be seen wearing her son’s Syracuse jersey. Kiyan recently announced that he will wear the No. 7 shirt.

In November of 2024, Kiyan Anthony revealed via ESPN that he had committed to play for Syracuse, as he wanted to continue the legacy that his father, Carmelo, had forged there. With the current offseason being a couple of months in already, Kiyan decided to move onto campus. His mother, La La, wrote on her social media post:

“Stepped onto campus for Kiyan’s move-in day! 🍊.”

Carmelo Anthony, most notably, won Syracuse’s lone national championship in 2003, as he was named as the Most Outstanding Player (MOP) for it. The 41-year-old went on to get selected by the Denver Nuggets with the third overall pick in that year’s NBA Draft, and became a 10-time NBA All-Star. His son, Kiyan, recently wrapped up his senior season of high school hoops at Long Island Lutheran High School, currently ranked nationally at No. 36, as per ESPN.

Carmelo Anthony Discusses Kiyan During Syracuse Orange Commencement Speech

On May 11 of this year, Carmelo Anthony was invited as a guest speaker at a Syracuse University commencement ceremony.

The NBA legend delivered a lengthy, awe-inspiring speech to the graduates, diving into his campus life back in the day and his journey, as a whole, to who he is today on and off the court. In one instance, he spoke about his son, Kiyan, and informed everyone that the 18-year-old is now in Syracuse.

“Speaking of legacy, let me share something personal. My son is now a student here at Syracuse. Watching him walk the same halls, wear the same colors, sit in this dome, is one of the proudest moments of my life. It’s not just about following in my footsteps, it’s about watching him create his own story. That’s the power of family. That’s the power of legacy. And, it reminds me that the seeds you plant today can grow far beyond what you ever imagined,” Anthony said.

Carmelo and La La Anthony will now cheer on their son, Kiyan, who is entering the 2025-26 college basketball season as a freshman for coach Adrian Autry’s Syracuse Orange. The 2024-25 team finished with an overall record of 14-19 (7-13, ACC) and did not make it to this year’s NCAA tournament.

College Sports Network has you covered with the latest news, analysis, insights, and trending stories in football, basketball, and more!

Former NBA player Carmelo Anthony’s ex-wife, La La, was all smiles on her son Kiyan’s move-in day to the…

[68
402,398,400,401,99
0":"post-15797","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-ncaa-basketball","8":"tag-basketball","9":"tag-ncaa","10":"tag-ncaa-basketball","11":"tag-ncaabasketball","12":"tag-sports
["GET
