Wayne Rooney hit out at one Manchester United \u201cpanic buy\u201d after Ruben Amorim\u2019s side suffered a one-sided 3-0 loss against Manchester City.<\/p>\n
Man Utd<\/a> struggled to lay a glove on arch-rivals Man City as Phil Foden\u2019s header and Erling Haaland\u2019s brace helped Pep Guardiola\u2019s side earn a well-deserved three points at the Etihad on Sunday.<\/p>\n This game provided further evidence that Amorim\u2019s 3-4-3 system is not working, as they were dominated in midfield and were open defensively.<\/p>\n Summer signing Bryan Mbeumo was a bright spark for the Red Devils as he forced Gianluigi Donnarumma to make a superb save, though his performance was arguably Man Utd\u2019s only positive.<\/p>\n Donnarumma joined Man City on deadline day to replace Ederson after he was heavily linked with Man Utd, who instead signed 23-year-old Senne Lammens<\/a>.<\/p>\n Lammens was a substitute for Sunday\u2019s match as Alter Bayindir started, and Rooney has explained why this is a \u201cconcern\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cThat was a worry as well\u2026 you don\u2019t know if that was a panic buy,\u201d Rooney said on his BBC podcast.<\/p>\n READ: 16 Conclusions from Man City 3-0 Man Utd: Haaland, Foden, Doku joy, but more grim United misery<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ll be honest I don\u2019t know too much about the new goalkeeper, I don\u2019t think many of us have seen much about him. I\u2019ll obviously do some research and have a look.<\/p>\n \u201cBut if you\u2019re buying a new goalkeeper and he\u2019s not ready to come in that\u2019s a bit of a concern.<\/p>\n \u201cObviously Donnarumma comes straight in and keeps a clean sheet. That\u2019s the big difference and that was my point after the first game of the season when I said United should go and get Donnarumma.<\/p>\n \u201cWhether financially they could or he didn\u2019t want to come on we don\u2019t know but we\u2019ve signed a new goalkeeper on potential, we\u2019ve needed up with another project, and that\u2019s always a bit of a risk.\u201d<\/p>\n MORE MAN UTD COVERAGE ON F365\u2026 Rooney has also offered his thoughts on Amorim, with it \u201cvery difficult\u201d to find positives about Man Utd amid no signs of \u201cprogression\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cI want to be as supportive and positive as I can be on the manager and the players,\u201d Rooney continued.<\/p>\n \u201cBut it is very difficult to sit here and say we are seeing progression, and at least we\u2019re seeing things that will get results in the near future.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re seeing none of that, and it is very difficult. There was an image towards the end of the game where I saw the Manchester United fans leaving.<\/p>\n \u201cYou could hear the fans singing Amorim\u2019s name, but I think that is so powerful that the United fans were leaving the game.<\/p>\n \u201cYou know the game is over and I think they were very disappointed in what they were seeing. It is hard to see how it continues.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat are the patterns?
