\n\tHorror streamer Shudder<\/a> has picked up two Indonesian genre titles from EST N8<\/a>, securing \u201cPabrik Gula<\/a>\u201d (Sugar Mill) and \u201cPerewangan\u201d for North American, U.K., Ireland, Australia and New Zealand distribution.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe acquisition brings director Awi Suryadi back to international audiences following his previous hit \u201cKKN di Desa Penari,\u201d which holds the record as Indonesia\u2019s top-grossing horror film. <\/p>\n

\n\tDrawing from Indonesian folklore, \u201cPabrik Gula\u201d has emerged as 2025\u2019s biggest local horror success, <\/a>attracting over 4.7 million local moviegoers. The MD Pictures production combines period horror elements from Dutch colonial times with contemporary scares set around a sugar plantation. Meanwhile, \u201cPerewangan\u201d delves into Javanese spiritual beliefs about entities that grant material benefits.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cShudder has been a proud showcase for contemporary Indonesian horror, and we\u2019re absolutely thrilled to grow that offering with \u2018Perewangan\u2019 and \u2018Pabrik Gula,\u2019 two terrifically frightening and fun films from the great director Awi Suryadi,\u201d said Sam Zimmerman, senior VP of programming and acquisitions at Shudder.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe titles have already found success across multiple markets. Following EST N8\u2019s March theatrical rollout in North America, \u201cPabrik Gula\u201d went on to set new Indonesian horror benchmarks during its Vietnamese release in July. International sales have extended across Asia-Pacific territories and beyond, including Taiwan, Japan, Latin America and Southeast Asian markets.<\/p>\n

\n\tEST N8\u2019s Tenten Wei, Sophie Shi, Cathy Ni and Aaron Chang negotiated the agreement, which was unveiled ahead of the Busan International Film Festival<\/a>\u2018s Asian Contents and Film Market. <\/p>\n
