Jane\u2019s Addiction band members are suing their lead singer Perry Farrell after an onstage fight in September 2024 canceled their reunion tour, axed their upcoming album and led to the band\u2019s breakup.<\/p>\n

The 36-page complaint filed by Dave Navarro, Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins accused their longtime frontman of assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, breach of fiduciary duty and breach of contract, according to court docs reviewed by Rolling Stone.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Band can no longer function as a result of the Defendant\u2019s conduct, including his sudden, violent outbursts and demonstrated inability to serve as the Band\u2019s frontman and vocalist,\u201d the lawsuit filed Wednesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court alleged.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The band members claim the fallout from last year\u2019s unexpected on-stage fight at Leader Bank Pavillion in Boston caused them to lose over $10 million and demanded Farrell pay the outstanding bills for the cancelled \u201cImminent Redemption Tour.\u201d<\/p>\n

Navarro revealed additional losses that he suffered from when the band unexpectedly ended their tour early in September 2024, saying at the time that they \u201cmade the difficult decision to take some time away as a group.\u201d<\/p>\n

Navarro postponed his wedding in Scotland, lost $50,000 deposits and terminated his disability payments of $25,000 per month so he could perform with the band, the court documents claimed.<\/p>\n

On Sept. 13, 2024\u00a0 Farrell was singing \u201cOcean Size\u201d during a concert when he became angry and charged Navarro on stage, according to video from the scuffle.<\/a><\/p>\n

A confused-looking Navarro paused playing his guitar, lifted his arm to try to stop Farrell from getting close to him.<\/p>\n

The singer persisted and threw an elbow jab at the guitarist.<\/p>\n

Crew members and bandmates, including bassist Eric Avery, ran onto the stage and restrained him as they urged him to \u201cstop!\u201d<\/p>\n

The lights dimmed as crew members dragged Farrell off stage.<\/p>\n

Farrell fired back at the band\u2019s allegations and filed a countersuit against Navarro, Avery and Perkins on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The singer accused his bandmates of being part of a \u201cyears-long bullying campaign,\u201d according to court documents obtained by The Post.<\/p>\n

The 30-page complaint accused his bandmates of assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligent infliction of emotional distress and breach of contract.<\/p>\n

The frontman\u2019s wife, Etty Lau Farrell and the band\u2019s touring company, Wilton\u2019s Hilton Inc., are named as co-plaintiffs.<\/p>\n

Farrell claimed that the band would harass him on stage during shows and play their instruments \u201cat a high volume\u201d so he couldn\u2019t hear himself sing.<\/p>\n

The alleged bullying \u201ctactics\u201d hit a boiling point during the Boston show.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis harassment escalated on September 13, 2024 to physical violence by Navarro and Avery against Farrell onstage during the Boston show and the assault of both Perry and Etty Lau Farrell backstage by Navarro,\u201d Farrell\u2019s countersuit claimed. \u201cThese altercations precipitated the decision by Navarro, Avery and Perkins to both call off the rest of the band\u2019s North American tour.\u201d<\/p>\n

Farrell\u2019s complaint said the former band members made him the \u201cscapegoat\u201d as they \u201cfalsely\u201d accused him of having \u201cmental health difficulties\u201d when they canceled the band\u2019s reunion without consulting him.<\/p>\n

The lawsuit is seeking \u201cgeneral damages for physical injury due to assault and battery, severe emotional distress and mental suffering,\u201d and attorneys\u2019 fees.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The hits keep coming.
