The Information originally <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theinformation.com\/articles\/openai-raids-apple-hardware-talent-manufacturing-partners\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"(Opens in a new tab)\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">reported<\/a>\u00a0the news; OpenAI has not yet commented on it.<\/p>\n<p>The company is reportedly in touch with Goertek, another Chinese manufacturer, which helps assemble AirPods, HomePods, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcmag.com\/picks\/the-best-apple-watch\" data-element=\"link-injector\" x-track-ga-click=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Apple Watch<\/a>es, to supply components like speaker modules for the planned devices.<\/p>\n<p>    <a class=\"text-gray-600\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/amir\/status\/1969039678822137925\" title=\"(Opens in a new tab)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><br \/>\n        This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed.<br \/>\n    <\/a><\/p>\n<p>In addition, OpenAI has reportedly hired two dozen of Apple&#8217;s former consumer hardware employees to assist with the devices. These new hires join former Apple execs who joined the company after it spent $6.5 billion to acquire io Products in May, which brought about 55 new staff to the company. <\/p>\n<p>        Recommended by Our Editors<\/p>\n<p>Ive, who founded io Products, was Apple&#8217;s senior vice president of industrial design and chief design officer until he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcmag.com\/news\/iphone-designer-jony-ive-to-leave-apple-to-start-his-own-firm\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">left the company in 2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>AI devices have had a rocky rollout so far. The Rabbit R1 was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcmag.com\/reviews\/rabbit-r1\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">widely panned<\/a>, while the AI Pin from Humane (also made up of former Apple employees) flopped; its tech was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcmag.com\/news\/its-dead-jim-maker-of-star-trek-like-ai-pin-folds-as-hp-scoops-up-tech\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">acquired by HP in February<\/a>.
