{"id":17298,"date":"2025-07-17T21:15:07","date_gmt":"2025-07-17T21:15:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/17298\/"},"modified":"2025-07-17T21:15:07","modified_gmt":"2025-07-17T21:15:07","slug":"poole-college-employer-summit-offers-recruiting-insights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/17298\/","title":{"rendered":"Poole College Employer Summit Offers Recruiting Insights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/poole.ncsu.edu\/undergraduate\/career-services\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Poole College of Management\u2019s Career Center <\/a>welcomed over 50 employers in fields such as banking, energy and pharmaceuticals to its annual Employer Summit in June.<\/p>\n<p>The event creates significant value for both employers and the college, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/poole.ncsu.edu\/people\/mark-green\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mark Green<\/a>, director of career services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor employers, it\u2019s an opportunity to build deeper relationships with our institution, gain insights into student trends, and refine their recruiting strategies through peer learning and expert-led discussions,\u201d Green said. \u201cFor the college, it strengthens partnerships with key employment stakeholders, increases employer engagement on campus, and positions us as a proactive, thoughtful collaborator in the talent development pipeline.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/employers-at-employer-summit-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"Employers at Employer Summit working on a project\" class=\"wp-image-225132\"  \/>Over 50 employers were present at the Employer Summit.<\/p>\n<p>The event opened with a welcome from <a href=\"https:\/\/poole.ncsu.edu\/people\/cgreavis\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Connie Fowler<\/a>, employer relations manager at the Career Center, followed by remarks from <a href=\"https:\/\/poole.ncsu.edu\/people\/buckless\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Poole College Dean Frank Buckless<\/a> and Green, who provided updates on the Career Center, highlighting key engagement opportunities for the upcoming year<\/p>\n<p>Next up was <a href=\"https:\/\/poole.ncsu.edu\/people\/annie-murray\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Annie Murray<\/a>, director of graduate career services, who delivered a data-driven presentation on key employment trends that gave employers actionable insights.<\/p>\n<p>The Art of Storytelling<\/p>\n<p>Alysia Baker Eve, head of product marketing for ShareFile, delivered the keynote address, titled \u201cThe Art of Storytelling.\u201d Her presentation emphasized the power of storytelling as a recruitment strategy. She explained the power of a strong employee value proposition (EVP), which outlines the unique ways a company\u2019s benefits, culture and opportunities can be offered to prospective employees.<\/p>\n<p>Eve outlined three steps to create a successful EVP:<\/p>\n<p>Share employee success stories, which help explain to potential recruits how they could follow a similar path.<\/p>\n<p>Explain your company\u2019s origin and mission, answering the questions, \u201cWhy does your company exist and what does it stand for?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Offer day-in-the-life stories at your company, which provide valuable insights into workplace culture.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Alysia-Baker-Eve-speaks-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"Alysia Baker Eve speaks to a crowd\" class=\"wp-image-225129\"  \/>Alysia Baker Eve gave a presentation on \u201cThe Art of Storytelling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Art of Storytelling presentation was insightful and inspiring to not only help students be able to communicate their stories, but also for me to communicate my story and my company\u2019s story,\u201d said Emily Johnson, a campus recruiter for PNC Bank.<\/p>\n<p>Chelsea Carpenter, a talent acquisition manager at Enterprise Mobility, agreed, saying that the \u201cstorytelling topic was great to re-frame how I sell candidates on career opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An Energizing Event<\/p>\n<p>Overall, Green described his year\u2019s summit as a resounding success. \u201cWe had strong attendance from our employer partners, a dynamic speaker lineup, and high energy throughout the event.\u201d He also noted that \u201cfeedback from employers was very positive, with many noting that the content was unique and relevant to their current hiring strategies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Johnson agreed, saying, \u201cThe Employer Summit was a great way to reset and be inspired for the upcoming recruiting season. It gave me the opportunity to hear directly from other professionals about their approaches to recruiting, which was helpful.
