The name Northampton is painted next to it with each letter a different colour and design. \" class=\"sc-86c96223-0 fHZDyi\"\/>Ant Saddington\/BBC<\/p>\n<p>The Binty chicken has been revealed as the 100th object in Northampton Museum and Art Gallery&#8217;s new local exhibition<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 bJoRPJ\">The final item to be included in a display about local life had been revealed, following a vote. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 bJoRPJ\">Residents were previously asked to select the last piece for &#8216;A History of Northamptonshire in 100 Objects&#8217; exhibition, out of <a target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/c1jp9j7zj3wo\" class=\"sc-f9178328-0 jZoZnB\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">five shortlisted items<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 bJoRPJ\">Winning more than 50% of the vote was the <a target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/av\/uk-england-northamptonshire-59322847\" class=\"sc-f9178328-0 jZoZnB\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Binty chicken<\/a>, which had been painted across the county in different locations by an anonymous artist since 2012. Her face cannot be seen but she wears glasses and a blue jumper. \" class=\"sc-86c96223-0 fHZDyi\"\/>Ant Saddington\/BBC<\/p>\n<p>The artist said she wanted to remain anonymous as it was &#8220;easier&#8221; for her<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 bJoRPJ\">Speaking about why she started painting chickens, the artist said: &#8220;I didn&#8217;t want to write a word like most graffiti words, I wanted to do something that my children would see and think, &#8216;Oh look, a chicken&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 bJoRPJ\">&#8220;Now my children are sick to death of them, but other people like them, so that&#8217;s nice.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 bJoRPJ\">The chicken beat the likes of Northampton Town&#8217;s 2020 League Two play-off final trophy, a Dr Marten&#8217;s boot and the lantern from Northampton&#8217;s Diwali lights festival.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/1758463509_518_grey-placeholder.png\" class=\"sc-86c96223-0 iMuqLZ hide-when-no-script\" aria-label=\"image unavailable\"\/><img decoding=\"async\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/08bee030-9573-11f0-91d9-3d6886c3c5a8.jpg.webp.webp\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Ant Saddington\/BBC A map of Northamptonshire is detailed on a white board that is part of a museum exhibition.
