Trump and his closest friend Jeffrey Epstein.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The statue is the most recent in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wusa9.com\/article\/news\/politics\/nps-says-permit-extended-poop-statue-on-national-mall-jan-6-trump\/65-8d74a956-2f95-4951-b387-afe262034836\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">string of oddities<\/a> that have appeared on the National Mall, including a large gold statue of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wusa9.com\/article\/tech\/bananas-washington-dc-national-mall\/65-554f0812-9d34-467a-a9a2-7471b99fa6bf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Trump holding out a Bitcoin and a 50-foot bunch of bananas<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The authorities have not said who placed the statue.<\/p>\n<p>The president has repeatedly tried to distance himself from the late notorious sex trafficking suspect since reports that he was named in the Department of Justice\u2019s Epstein file.<\/p>\n<p>More recently, the Wall Street Journal published a birthday note Trump wrote to Epstein. Trump has denied writing the letter, which is framed with a lewd drawing of a woman\u2019s body.<\/p>\n<p>Videos and photographs show Trump and Epstein together at various social gatherings, but the president has said they had a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wusa9.com\/article\/news\/nation-world\/trump-epstein-stole-young-women-mar-a-lago-spa-virginia-giuffre\/507-7bbb6ad7-d0af-4333-bd27-f13152dd4020\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">falling out many years ago<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Epstein was linked to a number of celebrities and high-profile politicians.
