FARMINGDALE, N.Y. \u2014 Four names beneath a tee time for a practice round can seem trivial. At a Ryder Cup<\/a>, it\u2019s telling.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Captains of both the U.S. and Europe sides assigned these foursomes for a reason \u2013 likely because the pairs in the group will be playing partners at some point during the first two days of Ryder Cup competition<\/a>, which features foursomes (alternate shot) and fourball (best ball) matches on Friday and Saturday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a look at how the practice pairings over the first two warm-up sessions have panned out. With the weather looking questionable Thursday, practice time at Bethpage Black<\/a> could be over.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Europe captain Luke Donald<\/a> has 11 of 12 players returning (H\u00f8jgaard replacing his twin brother, Nicolai). This isn\u2019t rocket science, but until the matchups are formally announced Thursday evening, speculation is as close as we can get.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Europe swept the foursome session to start the 2023 Ryder Cup<\/a> so let\u2019s assume Donald doesn\u2019t change much:<\/p>\n

Rahm\/HattonFleetwood\/McIlroy\u00c5berg\/HovlandStraka\/Lowry<\/p>\n

The Americans will definitely have a different look, however, since Thomas\u2019 buddy Jordan Spieth isn\u2019t on this team.<\/p>\n

Scheffler\/HenleySchauffele\/Cantlay\u00a0Thomas\/GriffinDeChambeau\/Spaun\u00a0<\/p>\n
