{"id":180423,"date":"2025-09-25T08:30:16","date_gmt":"2025-09-25T08:30:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/180423\/"},"modified":"2025-09-25T08:30:16","modified_gmt":"2025-09-25T08:30:16","slug":"you-might-want-to-rethink-your-plans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/180423\/","title":{"rendered":"You might want to rethink your plans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Who\u2019s buying?<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re planning to attend the 45th Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black, think about pregaming.<\/p>\n<p>While double-digit beer prices are nothing new to those who flock to Yankee Stadium or Madison Square Garden, the PGA of America has taken a sledgehammer to the ethos of \u201cThe People\u2019s Country Club\u201d by charging fans a minimum price of $15 per beer. <\/p>\n<p>A \u201cpremium beer\u201d costs $19 (plus tax and tip) and a hard seltzer is listed for $16, while a non-alcoholic Michelob Ultra Zero runs $12.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:0.76855469;display:block\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"37199415\" width=\"453\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/rydercup_drinks.jpg\" alt=\"The drink prices at the Ryder Cup\" class=\"wp-image-37199415\"  \/>The drink prices at the Ryder Cup<\/p>\n<p>The cost of four 16-ounce Bud Lights, plus tax, will cost about as much as a New York State resident pays to play a weekday round at the legendary course ($70).<\/p>\n<p>Things don\u2019t get any cheaper if you want a mixed drink, with an All-American Transfusion costing spectators $19.50.<\/p>\n<p>But there was no sticker shock for the many who walked away with beer cans before 9 a.m., nor should it be expected amongst a crowd that coughed up $255 to attend practice rounds and $750 per day of official play, which includes food and non-alcoholic beverages. <\/p>\n<p>More than 500,000 fans applied for Ryder Cup tickets, which sold out in 48 hours, and featured a premium hospitality package for $10,000 per day.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"37199397\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/team-united-states-fans-pose-111976168.jpg\" alt=\"Fans at Bethpage Black for the Ryder Cup practice round.\" class=\"wp-image-37199397\"  \/>Fans at Bethpage Black for the Ryder Cup practice round. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The massive merchandise tent, located just beyond the main entrance of the event, features polo shirts for $145, sweatshirts for $245 and commemorative coins signed by U.S. captain Keegan Bradley, listed for as much as $7,500.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets to this year\u2019s Masters cost $140 per day, while tickets to the U.S. Open at Oakmont could be purchased for $150.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Who\u2019s buying?
