That led to the additions of Matheus Cunha<\/a>, Bryan Mbeumo<\/a> and Benjamin Sesko<\/a>.<\/p>\n United also welcomed Diego Leon<\/a> and Senne Lammens<\/a> to the squad, but both players have yet to make their competitive debut for the Red Devils.<\/p>\n United signed Lammens from Royal Antwerp<\/a> before sending Andre Onana on loan to Trabzonspor<\/a>, yet the young Belgian goalkeeper has been benched for the games against Man City and Chelsea. <\/p>\n It remains to be seen if Lammens will make his debut ahead of Altay Bayindir<\/a> when United travel to Brentford on Saturday.<\/p>\n United considered their options when it came to signing a new goalkeeper.<\/p>\n Aston Villa\u2019s Emiliano Martinez had been linked with a move to United<\/a> for months, but it never materialised as Ineos<\/a> opted for a younger alternative.<\/p>\n Lammens, 23, has yet to make an appearance for the Belgium national team but is expected to compete for the first-choice role with Bayindir and Tom Heaton<\/a> at United.<\/p>\n Former United goalkeeper Ben Foster<\/a> believes United needed a goalkeeper with an aura, like Gianluigi Donnarumma<\/a> or Martinez.<\/p>\n Although Donnarumma was linked with a move to United, the Italian stopper signed for Man City before making his debut in the Manchester derby<\/a>.<\/p>\n Foster went on to claim that United would finish in the top six had they signed Martinez instead of Lammens. <\/p>\n \u201cI think you need somebody with aura, massive aura,\u201d Foster told Sam Allardyce on the Tippy Tappy Football podcast.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd Gigi\u2019s got it, Donnarumma\u2019s got it, character. And Emi Martinez has got it in absolute bundles, he has.
