\n\tJ.K. Rowling<\/a> weighed in on Emma Watson<\/a>\u2018s viral interview<\/a> on the \u201cOn Purpose With Jay Shetty\u201d podcast <\/a>by sharing a parody video of the \u201cHarry Potter<\/a>\u201d actor\u2019s appearance. Comedian IntelLady spoofed Watson\u2019s interview, in which the actor said she would be open to talking to Rowling again amid their continued rift over Rowling\u2019s comments on the trans community. Rowling praised the video and added in her caption: \u201cI\u2019m here for all the spoofs.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWatson, who has largely been out of the Hollywood spotlight for the last seven years, spoke about her rift with Rowling for the first time during her interview with Shetty. The actor played Hermione Granger in the eight \u201cHarry Potter\u201d films released by Warner Bros. between 2001 and 2011.<\/p>\n

\n\tA rift between Rowling and Watson started in 2020 after the \u201cHarry Potter\u201d author started sharing views on the transgender community that many found to be transphobic. Watson joined \u201cHarry Potter\u201d co-stars like Daniel Radcliffe by publicly opposing Rowling, sharing in a statement: \u201cTrans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned or told they aren\u2019t who they say they are.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRowling later went on record saying she would \u201cnever forgive\u201d<\/a> Watson or her co-stars after they \u201ccosied up to a movement intent on eroding women\u2019s hard-won rights.\u201d Watson was asked by Shetty on the new podcast episode to weigh in on these comments.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI really don\u2019t believe that by having had that experience and holding the love and support and views that I have, mean that I can\u2019t and don\u2019t treasure Jo and the person that I had personal experiences with,\u201d Watson said. \u201cI will never believe that one negates the other and that my experience of that person, I don\u2019t get to keep and cherish. To come back to our earlier thing \u2014 I just don\u2019t think these things are either or. I think it\u2019s my deepest wish that I hope people who don\u2019t agree with my opinion will love me, and I hope I can keep loving people who I don\u2019t necessarily share the same opinion with.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI think the thing I\u2019m most upset about is that a conversation was never made possible,\u201d Watson added.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen Shetty asked if she remained open to having that dialogue, Watson replied, \u201cYeah, and I always will. I believe in that. I believe in that completely.\u201d<\/p>\n
