MICHAEL K. CHEN ARCHITECTURE (MKCA)\u00a0is a growing New York City-based architecture and design firm working at the intersection of architecture, interior design, and social practice. Current projects include ground up houses, large scale residential renovations, community oriented projects in the public realm, and residential interiors throughout the United States and internationally. Our work straddles architecture, interior design, and industrial design, often in collaboration with artists and other designers, scientists, and engineers. In March of 2020, MKCA co-founded\u00a0Design Advocates<\/a>\u00a0(D\/A), a network of design firms collaborating on projects, research, and advocacy efforts that advance equality in the built environment.<\/p>\n JOB DESCRIPTION<\/p>\n We are seeking talented junior level architects and designers to join our team. The junior staff work with project managers and the firm principal to develop projects from concept to realization, generating design studies and production documents, sourcing furnishings and decorative elements, and developing the representation of projects for presentation. They engage the entire range of the office\u2019s creative workflow through sketching, digital modeling, rendering, drafting, BIM, physical model making, and prototyping.<\/p>\n The ideal candidate is one with strong design skills and aesthetic sensibilities, strong values, and a creative point of view that are complementary to the practice. We are seeking someone with a passion for interiors and furniture, but who is also technically facile and eager to learn. The position offers many opportunities to contribute meaningfully to the work of the office and for professional advancement.\u00a0Members of our team also regularly participate\u00a0in Design Advocates projects and initiatives.\u00a0<\/p>\n QUALIFICATIONS<\/p>\n A professional\u00a0degree in Architecture. M.Arch, preferred.<\/p>\n Strong digital design skills. Fluency with Rhino and Revit are a must.<\/p>\n Strong drawing and graphic skills including in AutoCAD and the Adobe Suite.<\/p>\n A demonstrated commitment to craft and making, whether through analog or digital means, including CNC milling, Robotics, 3D printing, or others.<\/p>\n 1-2\u00a0years of professional architecture experience.<\/p>\n This is a full-time, in-person position with a\u00a0competitive salary\u00a0commensurate with a candidate\u2019s experience and qualifications.
