The platform leads its announcement by stating users can &#8220;shape the future of AI on YouTube&#8221; by engaging. The vice president of YouTube Labs, Aparna Pappu, welcomed users to YouTube Labs, a &#8220;dedicated&#8221; space for developing AI on the platform.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-seasonal\" href=\"\" data-url=\"\" target=\"_blank\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"38ede27a-ce83-4c0f-a8bd-8ad749360661-2\">YouTube Labs <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/new\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/new\" target=\"_blank\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">is open for a limited number<\/a> of U.S. testers beginning today (Sep 26).<\/p>\n<p>You may like<\/p>\n<p>If you manage to get invited, the post states the first experiment is about &#8220;AI Music Hosts.&#8221; While this may sound like Google&#8217;s <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/apps-software\/notebooklm-audio-overviews-radio-like-ai\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/apps-software\/notebooklm-audio-overviews-radio-like-ai\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NotebookLM hosts<\/a> for studying, YouTube assures these AI hosts are all about entertainment. These AI music hosts will &#8220;deepen your listening experience&#8221; by talking about relevant music stories, engaging in fan trivia, and even offering some AI commentary.<\/p>\n<p>Since this first test is all about music, users will primarily engage with the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/tag\/youtube-music\" data-auto-tag-linker=\"true\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/tag\/youtube-music\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">YouTube Music<\/a> app for the time being. The <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/new\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/new\" target=\"_blank\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Labs explainer<\/a> states that, while you&#8217;re listening to music in the app, the AI will &#8220;chime in&#8221; with these little talkshow-like moments. However, tests back in 2023 brought the first glimpse of its &#8220;<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/apps-software\/youtube-tests-more-generative-ai-feature-ask-topics\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/apps-software\/youtube-tests-more-generative-ai-feature-ask-topics\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ask about video<\/a>&#8221; feature, which has since rolled out in full.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, a test from early this past summer <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/apps-software\/youtube\/youtube-highlights-carousel-ai-overview-like-test-rollout\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/apps-software\/youtube\/youtube-highlights-carousel-ai-overview-like-test-rollout\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">brought YouTube&#8217;s take<\/a> on Google&#8217;s AI Overviews. Premium users in the test were able to see brief overviews when searching for videos. Categorized as a &#8220;Highlight,&#8221; users would find AI-generated titles, descriptions, and clips when searching for something they were curious about.
