{"id":185096,"date":"2025-09-27T10:32:08","date_gmt":"2025-09-27T10:32:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/185096\/"},"modified":"2025-09-27T10:32:08","modified_gmt":"2025-09-27T10:32:08","slug":"former-nfl-star-charles-peanut-tillman-quits-fbi-job-after-7-years-over-immigration-role","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/185096\/","title":{"rendered":"Former NFL star Charles &#8216;Peanut&#8217; Tillman quits FBI job after 7 years over immigration role"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Chicago Bears legend Charles \u201cPeanut\u201d Tillman quit his job at the FBI after 7 years, claiming he refused orders from superiors over the agency\u2019s immigration crackdown.<\/p>\n<p>Tillman, 44, said he wanted to be \u201con the right side of history\u201d after vacating his role at the investigation bureau because of disagreements with the Trump administration\u2019s policies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome of the things they\u2019re doing I personally didn\u2019t agree with, [such as] immigration,\u201d Tillman told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=wYZpZoIvQZQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">\u201cThe Pivot Podcast\u201d<\/a> Tuesday. \u201cI didn\u2019t agree with how the administration came in and tried to make individuals do things against their [beliefs]. .\u2009.\u2009. Everybody was told, \u2018You\u2019re going to go after the most dangerous criminals.\u2019 But what you see on TV and what actually was happening was, people weren\u2019t going after that,\u201d the two-time Pro Bowler revealed. \u201cPersonally, that didn\u2019t sit right with me, that didn\u2019t sit right with my conscience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The two-time Pro Bowler praised his \u201camazing experiences\u201d with the agency and said he was able to leave because of the money he made throughout his 13-year NFL career \u2014 unlike some of his coworkers.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was in a different position because of my previous career. I made enough money to where I could just walk away and say, \u2018You know what? I\u2019m good,&#8217;\u201d Tillman said.<\/p>\n<p>The retired star cornerback revealed he refused the orders from his command leaders at the FBI headquarters in Washington, DC, instead of his Chicago field office<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat didn\u2019t sit right with my conscience. Like, you have the ability to refuse an order,\u201d Tillman said. \u201cJust because they say \u2018go arrest this person, yeah, you\u2019re my superior, I don\u2019t have to go do that. You can\u2019t make me go do that. You know, I\u2019m not in the military. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Federal agents took down several illegal immigrants in the Chicago area as part of \u201cOperation Midway Blitz.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Five \u201cillegal aliens\u201d were busted during the operation, according to Homeland Security <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.gov\/news\/2025\/09\/16\/secretary-noem-joins-law-enforcement-chicago-part-operation-midway-blitz-target\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Secretary Kristi Noem.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The arrested migrants included one who was convicted of a DUI with a child passenger, an individual convicted of violent assault, and an individual arrested for domestic violence, harassment, obstruction, and felony stalking.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tillman was drafted in 2003 by the Bears out of the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, where he earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in criminal justice. AP<\/p>\n<p>Tillman grew up in a military household and traveled the world while his father served in the Army.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI always wanted to play football. And I said \u2018look, if football don\u2019t work out, Imma join the Army. I\u2019m gonna be like my dad,\u201d Tillman said.<\/p>\n<p>In 2018, Tillman enrolled at the FBI\u2019s training academy in Quantico, Va, after he retired from the NFL, according to ESPN.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just always wanted to do public service,\u201d he said. \u201cI wanted to do my part and serve. It wasn\u2019t in the military but I did it in a different way by serving in the FBI.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The FBI shield is displayed on a window at the J.
