Taylor Swift reportedly won\u2019t be rocking the Super Bowl halftime show after all, despite rampant speculation the world\u2019s biggest pop star would finally take its biggest stage.<\/p>\n
The 35-year-old Grammy winner \u2014 whose 12th studio album, \u201cThe Life of a Showgirl,\u201d drops Friday \u2014 walked away from playing Super Bowl LX on Feb. 8, after the NFL allegedly refused to give in to her demands<\/a>, according to multiple reports.<\/p>\n News of the failed deal<\/a> originated with British pop culture journalist Rob Shuter\u2019s Substack, to which a music executive reportedly said Swift \u201cknows her worth,\u201d even if the halftime show<\/a> famously compensates artists in exposure instead of dollars.<\/p>\n \u201cShe knows the kind of ratings she brings, the global attention she commands. She wasn\u2019t about to hand that over for free,\u201d the industry source said. \u201cTaylor Swift doesn\u2019t need exposure. She wanted a deal that reflected her value.\u201d<\/p>\n According to NBC affiliate WCNC, part of that deal would include Swift retaining ownership of the performance footage<\/a>, much like the way she\u2019s fought to regain control of her music masters<\/a>.<\/p>\n Adele is now reportedly being considered as an alternative headliner<\/a> for the show.<\/p>\n Representatives for Swift, the NFL, the show\u2019s producer Roc Nation and sponsor Apple Music did not immediately return the Daily News\u2019 request for comment.<\/p>\n Speculation about Swift finally playing the Super Bowl ratcheted up last month when she and Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce announced their engagement<\/a> \u2014 not least because this will likely be the tight end\u2019s last season in the league<\/a>.<\/p>\n
