Teaching with technology can engage students at all levels and enhance their learning experience in and out of the classroom. The following resources provide helpful guides on how to effectively utilize the technology integrated into these classrooms.<\/p>\n<p>General IT classrooms are equipped with wired and wireless projection as well as document cameras, and speakers. Many classrooms are also equipped with microphones, video cameras, and Echo360 for lecture capture.<\/p>\n<p>For help, call CITS: 508-999-8900, option #2.<\/p>\n<p>(Wired) Projection<\/p>\n<p>All classroom projectors use HDMI inputs. All university-owned computers include the necessary adapter cable to connect to the projector.<\/p>\n<p>To connect your laptop to the projector:<\/p>\n<p>On the podium or instructor table, plug the yellow label HDMI cable into the laptop.<br \/>\nOn the podium or on the wall nearby, tap the touch panel to begin<br \/>\nSelect \u201claptop\u201d from the left side of the touch panel<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Touch-Panel-02---select-a-funciton-from-the-left-799x478.png\" class=\"img-fluid h-auto \" alt=\"Crestron touch panel with instructions to select a function from the left for projection in the classroom space\" style=\"width : 799px; height : 478px; border : ; padding : ; margin : ; float : ;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Touch Panel Controls: Video and Audio Mute<\/p>\n<p>Use the\u00a0image mute button to temporarily turn off the display on the projector<br \/>\nUse the\u00a0audio speaker button to adjust or mute room audio<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Video-and-audio-mute-buttons-1200x409.jpg\" class=\"img-fluid h-auto \" alt=\"video and audio mute buttons unmuted and muted\" style=\"width : 681px; height : 232px; border : ; padding : ; margin : ; float : ;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>(Wireless) Projection with AirMedia<\/p>\n<p>Most classroom projectors have wireless technology that allows you to use them without a wired connection. Install the AirMedia application on your computer, select AirMedia on the Crestron panel, and follow the on-screen instructions to project your laptop display wirelessly.<\/p>\n<p>Instructions for Win\/Mac coming soon!<\/p>\n<p>Document Camera<\/p>\n<p>The document camera is used with the projector to display printed and handwritten materials. The document camera has a blue-label HDMI cable that connects it to the projection system.<\/p>\n<p>To use the document camera with the projector:<\/p>\n<p>Press anywhere on the touch panel to begin<br \/>\nOn the touch panel, select \u201cDoc Cam\u201d as the input.<\/p>\n<p>Speakers<\/p>\n<p>Classroom speakers broadcast the audio that is shared from your computer.<\/p>\n<p>To use classroom audio:<\/p>\n<p>Set your computer volume level to 60-80%, then connect your computer to the projection system (wired or wireless)<br \/>\nOn the touch panel, use the volume control to make further adjustments.<\/p>\n<p>Some large lecture halls are equipped with voice amplification.<\/p>\n<p>Echo360<\/p>\n<p>Echo360 is used to stream and capture audio and video of the instructor, as well as the output of the projector.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, including requesting lecture capture recordings for your classes, please visit the <a title=\"Echo360 website\" href=\"https:\/\/instructionaldev.umassd.edu\/record_echo360\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Echo360 website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Classroom Technology Common Troubleshooting Tips<\/p>\n<p>Projection: Yellow Label HDMI Cable\u00a0\u2013 make sure the HDMI cable connected to your laptop has a yellow label on it. The HDMI cable with a blue label is for the document camera.<br \/>\nTouch Panel: No Inputs to Select\u00a0\u2013 click on the Help button in the upper right of the touch panel, then tap anywhere on the panel to refresh the list.<br \/>\nNo Room Sound: \u2013\u00a0Check your computer system volume settings and the specific program sound levels (i.e., YouTube video volume).
