Amidst the agony of yesterday\u2019s loss, there were several uplifting moments.<\/p>\n
One was the return of the second most prolific receiver in Bucs history, Chris Godwin.<\/p>\n
After trashing his ankle more than 11 months ago, Godwin got back on the field. And he played 80 percent of the snaps!<\/p>\n
Godwin understandably was off his game, but his health was on point. He came out of the game strong, per Todd Bowles\u2019 comments today on SiriusXM NFL Radio.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was great to see him back out there for the first time,\u201d Bowles said. \u201cWeek by week you\u2019re going to see him get back to his old self. Not that he wasn\u2019t great yesterday but we look forward to seeing more him out there. But he came through the game pretty good.\u201d<\/p>\n
What struck Joe was how upbeat Bowles\u2019 tone was talking about Godwin. It was a stark contrast to when he was talking about special teams.<\/p>\n
Joe\u2019s impressed by Godwin\u2019s workload against the Eagles. It tells Joe the Bucs didn\u2019t rush him back, even if FOX game announcer Kevin Burkhardt said yesterday the Bucs didn\u2019t expect Godwin back on the field in Week 4. (Don\u2019t ask Joe to speculate; that\u2019s all Burkhardt said.)<\/p>\n
The next challenge for Godwin the artificial turn in Seattle \u2014 the same stadium where they\u2019ll play World Cup soccer games on grass next year.<\/p>\n
