While we\u2019ve seen many of the long-running adult-animated shows from 20th Television, such as \u201cFamily Guy\u201d, \u201cBob\u2019s Burgers\u201d and \u201cThe Simpsons\u201d renewed for more seasons, unfortunately, \u201cThe Great North\u201d hasn\u2019t been able to secure a new season.<\/p>\n

The show follows the Alaskan adventures of the Tobin family, as a single dad, Beef, does his best to keep his weird bunch of kids close \u2013 especially his only daughter, Judy, whose artistic dreams lead her away from the family fishing boat and into the glamorous world of the local mall. Rounding out the family are Judy\u2019s older brother, Wolf, and his fianc\u00e9, Honeybee, her middle brother, Ham, and ten-year-old-going-on-fifty little brother, Moon. While their mother is not in the picture, Judy seeks guidance from her new boss, Alyson, and her imaginary friend, Alanis Morissette, who appears to her in the northern lights.<\/p>\n

In a statement on social media<\/a>, the show\u2019s director, Aimee Steinberger, confirmed the fate of the show:<\/p>\n

Sadly we got the news today that The Great North is officially cancelled. I\u2019m pretty sad about it. It\u2019s one of a very small number of shows I\u2019ve worked on that I genuinely loved and I really loved the whole talented crew I worked with. I feel lucky to have been there.<\/p>\n

However, fans of the show shouldn\u2019t completely give up hope, as the director also teased that animated shows have a tendency to come back.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s always possible! Futurama came back like 3 times<\/p>\n

Aimee also addressed how the show should be considered a success, as it ran for five seasons:<\/p>\n

5 seasons is definitely respectable, especially in the past few years\u2019 economy<\/p>\n

The previous seasons of \u201cThe Great North\u201d are available to stream now on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ internationally.\u00a0 The final episodes of the fifth season will also be released on Disney+ in the UK later this week on October 1st 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n
