\n\tDolly Parton<\/a>, who was set to receive the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences\u2019 Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the Oscar organization\u2019s annual Governors Awards<\/a> in November, will not attend the ceremony in person.<\/p>\n

\n\tSources confirmed Tuesday that Parton will miss out on the event, which is set for November 16 at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Ovation Hollywood.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe news comes as Parton earlier this week said she had to cancel<\/a> several December concert dates in Las Vegas, saying in a statement Monday that she has \u201cbeen dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I need to have a few procedures.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tParton had been set to play six shows at Caesars Palace from December 4-16. That run has now been moved to September 2026.<\/p>\n

\n\tWe hear that Parton not attending AMPAS\u2019 honorary Oscars<\/a> ceremony had been known about for some time within Academy circles, so the reason for missing the Gov Awards remains unclear; Deadline has reached out to her reps for comment.<\/p>\n

\n\tAMPAS revealed in June that its Board of Governors voted to present this year\u2019s Academy Honorary Awards<\/a> to\u00a0Debbie Allen,\u00a0Tom Cruise\u00a0and\u00a0Wynn Thomas, and the Hersholt to Parton. Each will be presented Oscar statuettes.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Hersholt award is given \u201cto an individual in the motion picture arts and sciences whose humanitarian efforts have brought credit to the industry by promoting human welfare and contributing to rectifying inequities.\u201d<\/p>\n
