But unlike most watchOS releases, there are several tentpole features that will only be available on very recent Apple Watch models.<\/p>\n<p>Apple Watch Series 10, Series 9, or Ultra 2 required for several watchOS 26 features<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re looking forward to getting Liquid Glass on your Apple Watch, and a variety of other new watchOS 26 features, all you need is an Apple Watch Series 6 or newer, Apple Watch SE 2, or any Apple Watch Ultra.<\/p>\n<p>But for certain tentpole features, hardware requirements are much more strict.<\/p>\n<p>Four new features with limited Apple Watch support include:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2025\/06\/11\/watchos-26-adds-new-wrist-flick-gesture-for-these-apple-watch-models\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wrist flick<\/a>, a new hands-free gesture for dismissing notifications, silencing, timers, and more<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2025\/06\/26\/watchos-26-has-these-hardware-requirements-for-apple-intelligence\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Live Translation<\/a>, which lets you message with people who don\u2019t share your language<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2025\/07\/15\/watchos-26-has-a-new-feature-coming-to-make-notifications-less-disruptive\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Automatic volume adjustment<\/a>, which ensures that notifications, incoming calls, and other noises are a suitable volume for your environment<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2025\/06\/26\/watchos-26-has-these-hardware-requirements-for-apple-intelligence\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Updates to Smart Replies<\/a>, which make the suggested replies you see in Messages more relevant and contextual than ever<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/watchos-26-wrist-flick.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1010543\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Each of these features has the same, very limited device support. <\/p>\n<p>They are only available on three current Apple Watch models:<\/p>\n<p>Apple Watch Series 10<\/p>\n<p>Apple Watch Series 9<\/p>\n<p>Apple Watch Ultra 2<\/p>\n<p>Essentially, only Apple Watch models that launched in 2023 or later are supported.<\/p>\n<p>So if you\u2019re interested in any of these upcoming watchOS 26 features and have been considering new Apple Watch hardware, this might be the year to upgrade.<\/p>\n<p>Are you looking forward to these watchOS 26 features, and do any make you more inclined to upgrade?
