\n\tJimmy Fallon<\/a>\u00a0isn\u2019t looking to get too political on The Tonight Show<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe comedian, who has been hosting the long-running late night talk show for more than 10 years, recently shared on CNBC\u2019s Squawk on the Street<\/a> that NBC\u2019s The Tonight Show has \u201cnever really been political\u201d and he wants to keep it that way.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe hit both sides equally, and we try to make everybody laugh, and that\u2019s really the way our show works,\u201d Fallon continued. \u201cOur monologues are kind of the same that we\u2019ve been doing since Johnny Carson was hosting The Tonight Show. So really, I just keep my head down and make sure the jokes are funny.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI have great writers,\u201d the host added. \u201cAnd we\u2019re just trying to make the best show we possibly can and entertain everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLate night television has been making headlines in recent months, first with CBS announcing the cancellation<\/a> of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert in July and then ABC suspending Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> Live!<\/a> in September over comments host Jimmy Kimmel made about Charlie Kirk\u2019s shooter.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile the latter has since returned to broadcast<\/a>, Kimmel was initially criticized by FCC chair Brendan Carr<\/a> over his remarks during his Sept. 15 opening monologue. However, the show\u2019s suspension later drew widespread discussion<\/a> over free speech.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen Kimmel was off the air, Fallon addressed the situation <\/a>on The Tonight Show at the time, saying, \u201cI don\u2019t know what\u2019s going on \u2014 no one does. But I do know Jimmy Kimmel, and he is a decent, funny and loving guy. And I hope he comes back.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThough Fallon tries to limit his political commentary on his show, he still occasionally gets dragged into the conversation by President Donald Trump, who has said he wants The Tonight Show host fired as well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Jimmy Fallon\u00a0isn\u2019t looking to get too political on The Tonight Show.
