A singer whose moving performance on \u201cAmerica\u2019s Got Talent\u201d<\/a> captivated Hoda Kotb<\/a> got to meet the former TODAY co-anchor.<\/p>\n

Chuck Adams went viral for his passionate cover of the Goo Goo Dolls\u2019 classic \u201cIris\u201d when, at the age of 40, he appeared on \u201cAGT\u201d in June<\/a>, with a performance that Hoda herself shared.<\/p>\n

While appearing on TODAY Oct. 2 to discuss her latest book, \u201cJump and Find Joy: Embracing Change in Every Season of Life,\u201d<\/a> Hoda was surprised by Adams.<\/p>\n

Adams, who tried to make it in the hip-hop industry over the course of a decade, said he was so grateful that Hoda appreciated his audition.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love that Hoda was moved by the performance and that it can lead to something like this,\u201d he said in a taped spot that aired before he surprised her. \u201cI just speak from a place of truth, and I hope I sing from that same place. So, when someone who has lived it and experienced it approves, that means the most to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adams eventually pivoted away from R&B to country music, moving to Nashville in 2014. He auditioned for \u201cAGT\u201d after much encouragement from his mother.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomething about this season when things are different. I felt different about life, about trying new things,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019ve just been in this phase of just saying yes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTaking the jump for me is always the way to go,\u201d he added. \u201cI don\u2019t really regret things or look back.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adams\u2019 time on \u201cAGT\u201d ended during the quarterfinals, but he said he does have some prospects for what\u2019s next.<\/p>\n

After the segment aired, Savannah Guthrie said to Hoda: \u201cNow, how long did you work here at the TODAY show?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you think that we have Chuck here hiding behind a wall?\u201d she joked.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would hope so!\u201d Hoda replied.<\/p>\n

Adams walked out and hugged an emotional Hoda.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is so cool,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

\u201cI am so proud of you and so happy for you,\u201d Hoda said about Adams\u2019 determination to continue his music career after setbacks.<\/p>\n

Adams told Hoda he appreciated her resharing his performance and sharing her own story of making jumps in life. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt makes me feel seen and comforted a little bit,\u201d he said. \u201cJust keep going.\u201d<\/p>\n

Then Adams broke out into an a cappella rendition of \u201cIris.\u201d<\/p>\n
