Kim Kardashian<\/a> and Kris Jenner<\/a> are suing Ray J (real name William Ray Norwood Jr.) for defamation after he claimed they were the targets of a federal racketeering investigation. The duo filed their suit on Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, according to Rolling Stone<\/a>.<\/p>\n In their complaint, the reality stars claim that Norwood, who appeared in Kardashian\u2019s infamous 2007 sex tape, has been \u201cunable to accept the end of his fleeting relationship\u201d with the Skims founder and has \u201crepeatedly sought to attach himself to [their] names and exploit their prominence for personal gain.\u201d The complaint also characterized Ray J\u2019s claims as \u201cpart of a broader campaign of harassment designed to generate publicity for his flailing career and satisfy his acknowledged animosity toward the Kardashian family.\u201d<\/p>\n Norwood has repeatedly referred to an alleged racketeering case against the Kardashians. In May, he appeared in the Tubi documentary TMZ Presents: United States v. Sean Combs: Inside the Diddy Trial and said that \u201cracketeering charges against the Kardashians would be appropriate.\u201d \u201cIf you told me that the Kardashians were being charged for racketeering, I might believe it,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n Norwood didn\u2019t stop there. On a livestream<\/a> last week, he said, \u201cThe federal RICO I\u2019m about to drop on Kris and Kim is about to be crazy.\u201d He continued, \u201cAnybody that is cool with Kim, they need to tell her now, the Feds is coming. There\u2019s nothing I can do about it \u2026 It\u2019s worse than Diddy<\/a>.\u201d Those comments were picked up by TMZ, which the Kardashians claim led to them being \u201cat the center of a media storm speculating as to their alleged criminal behavior.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cRay J\u2019s public statements are blatantly false,\u201d the complaint states. \u201cNo such federal investigation exists; no law enforcement agency has initiated any criminal proceedings or investigations related to racketeering charges against Ms. Kardashian or Ms. Jenner; and no credible evidence whatsoever supports these inflammatory allegations.\u201d<\/p>\n A representative for Norwood did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but the singer himself told TMZ<\/a>, \u201cI will not be silenced.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cKris Jenner and Kim Kardashian have never brought a defamation claim before nor have they been distracted by noise,\u201d Kardashian attorney Alex Spiro said in a statement to The Cut. \u201cBut this false and serious allegation left no choice.\u201d<\/p>\n Stay in touch.<\/p>\n Get the Cut newsletter delivered daily<\/p>\n Vox Media, LLC Terms and Privacy Notice<\/p>\n
