Late-night hosts Stephen Colbert<\/a> and Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> joined forces on Tuesday to jab President Donald Trump\u2019s <\/a>criticism of the two popular comedians.<\/p>\n

Colbert and Kimmel appeared on each other\u2019s late-night shows on Tuesday night, where they recounted each of their experiences of being taken off the air. During the \u201cLate Show with Stephen Colbert,\u201d<\/a> Kimmel took multiple shots at Trump\u2019s insults hurled at him and Colbert. <\/p>\n

Kimmel kicked off his appearance on Colbert\u2019s show by saying he was honored to be there alongside a \u201cfellow low-talent, late-night loser.\u201d<\/a> Trump has repeatedly blasted Kimmel and Colbert <\/a>for a lack of talent<\/a>, claiming that bad ratings led to Kimmel being temporarily suspended from the air and to the cancellation of Colbert\u2019s show. <\/p>\n

At one point, Colbert asked whether Kimmel ever thought the president would be celebrating him losing his job. <\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, that son of a b—-, you know?\u201d Kimmel responded. <\/p>\n

\u201cMr. Son of a B—-,\u201d Colbert added. <\/p>\n

Kimmel said that he never thought a president would be taking glee in Americans losing their jobs.<\/p>\n

\u201cI never imagined that we\u2019d ever have a president like this, and I hope we don\u2019t ever have another president like this again,\u201d Kimmel said. <\/p>\n

\u201cI never even imagined there would ever be a situation in which the president of our country was celebrating hundreds of Americans losing their jobs. Somebody who took pleasure in that That, to me, is the absolute opposite of what a leader of this country is supposed to be,\u201d Kimmel said. <\/p>\n

Colbert added: \u201cHear, hear!\u201d<\/p>\n

It has been a tumultuous few months for late-night TV. <\/p>\n

CBS announced in July <\/a>that it will cancel Colbert\u2019s late-night show starting in May 2026. While the company claimed the move was a purely \u201cfinancial decision,\u201d speculation swirled over whether Colbert\u2019s sharp criticism<\/a> of Trump had anything to do with his ouster as Paramount looked to get its merger with SkyDance Media approved.<\/p>\n

Then, ABC temporarily pulled Kimmel off the air<\/a> in September following a threatening statement from the Federal Communications Commission chairman about the late-night host\u2019s comments on the killing of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk. Many critics accused the federal government of pressuring ABC to take Kimmel off the air. <\/p>\n

Kimmel returned<\/a> last week following a six-day suspension from the network. <\/p>\n

ABC\u2019s decision to temporarily suspend the show came after Sinclair Broadcasting Group and Nexstar Media Group said they would not be airing it following Kimmel\u2019s comments from his Sept. 15 show. The controversy centered on Kimmel\u2019s comments from last week\u2019s show<\/a>, in which he suggested that Kirk\u2019s alleged killer, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, could have been a MAGA Republican.<\/p>\n
