LAYNE RIGGS, No. 34 Clew Ford F-150 \u2013 WHAT\u2019S YOUR TAKE ON THE INITIAL START?\u00a0\u201cWe just got wrecked by the 9.\u00a0I don\u2019t really understand what his thought process is.\u00a0People say you\u2019re supposed to take advice from the veterans and learn from them of how to race and they race the worst out of anybody.\u00a0That\u2019s twice this year we\u2019ve gotten wrecked by the 9 truck \u2013 at Watkins Glen and here, both road courses, two separate incidents, two blatantly wrong on his part.\u00a0We drug a swaybar arm off after that contact and just had a terrible handling truck the rest of the day.\u00a0At the end, we were just gonna try to salvage something, but something in the rear end housing broke or a clutch started slipping, but I had no power there at the end.\u00a0The engine was running, but it would not put the power down to the tires.\u00a0Everybody at Front Row Motorsports, Clew nicotine pouches, Ford Racing, they deserve a lot better day than today.\u00a0I have a lot of choice words for how the initial start played out.\u00a0I\u2019m really disappointed in the amount of talent that took.\u201d\u00a0DID YOU TALK AFTER THE WATKINS GLEN INCIDENT?\u00a0\u201cHe did.\u00a0He called me and apologized and said he won\u2019t do it again and he\u2019ll make sure from here on out he\u2019ll try to give me a little extra help when I need it.\u00a0This just blew all of that right out of the water.\u201d\u00a0WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU COULD HAVE FINISHED WITHOUT THE ISSUE ON THAT LAST RESTART?\u00a0\u201cI think we could have finished in the top 10.\u00a0I really wish that last caution didn\u2019t come out.\u00a0I think we were running ninth or 10th and that would have been a pretty good day for us, but it was just really not our day.\u00a0I think we salvaged the absolute best we could considering the circumstances, but I hated to see that caution come out.\u201d\u00a0THE CUT LINE IS PRETTY TIGHT GOING INTO TALLADEGA.\u00a0HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR WHAT\u2019S NEXT?\u00a0\u201cNo different than every other weekend.\u00a0We go out and try to be as fast as we can and execute and win.\u00a0Today, I feel like we did everything that we were supposed to do and it just got taken from us by a different source.\u00a0We\u2019ve got to keep it going.\u00a0I know it was hard on everybody on the team.\u00a0They did a really good job trying to get me back out there the best they could.\u00a0We\u2019ve just got to keep our heads high, know that we\u2019re fast.\u00a0Luckily, we\u2019re gonna have Chandler Smith as a teammate at Talladega, so we\u2019re gonna try to work together the best we can.\u00a0Obviously, that\u2019s a huge wild card too and Martinsville is also a wild card, so I\u2019m not really understanding this round of the playoffs.\u00a0I thought today was gonna be the least of the wild card problems and the next thing I know I couldn\u2019t even make a corner.\u00a0We\u2019re just gonna have to do the best we can.\u00a0If we get in, we get in.\u00a0It\u2019s fate and we did everything we could, but, if not, we know that we were fast all year long.\u201d<\/p>\n
BEN RHODES, No. 99 TSPORT Trucks Ford F-150 \u2013 \u201cIt\u2019s tough.\u00a0We\u2019re gonna have to look at the truck and try to figure something out.\u00a0I wanted to come over the pace laps and say like I did at Watkins Glen that something wasn\u2019t feeling right, but I don\u2019t want to say that.\u00a0We already experienced something at Watkins Glen.\u00a0It didn\u2019t feel right.\u00a0The wheel comes off in the race.\u00a0I\u2019m not saying that\u2019s what happened, but I had a very similar feel \u2013 something just wasn\u2019t right like what I had in practice and in qualifying, but I didn\u2019t want to say anything so I didn\u2019t and the truck just snapped.\u00a0I don\u2019t even know how I could go back and save it, so we\u2019ll go back and look to see if something broke or what may have happened.\u00a0I really don\u2019t have a clue and then whatever that is I\u2019m sure we\u2019ll let everybody know, but I really hate that for everybody on the team.\u00a0Our TSPORT F-150 was a lot better than how it felt right now.\u00a0In practice and qualifying it was pretty comfortable, so something happened.\u00a0I just don\u2019t know what it is.\u201d\u00a0WHAT KIND OF DAMAGE DID YOU HAVE?\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s just killed. As soon as the tires grab you, I mean, it gets front, it gets back, the tail is knocked down.\u00a0The biggest thing is that the toe was knocked out.\u00a0It grabbed the right-front tire and just twisted the whole tie rod out.\u00a0My steering wheel went from being straight up and down to way over to the side.\u00a0There\u2019s not much you can do with that.\u201d<\/p>\n
