Keeping lawns well-maintained can also help reduce tick habitats.<\/p>\n
The tick must bite and latch on for about a day before it can transmit serious infections like Lyme disease or Rocky Mountain spotted fever. Prevention and protection remain the best defense against this invasive species.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"OXFORD, Ohio (WKRC) – A new invasive species, the Asian longhorned tick, has been discovered in the Tri-State…\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":201153,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[47],"tags":[115780,115776,192,4167,33347,97438,115779,79,115778,115777],"class_list":{"0":"post-201152","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-environment","8":"tag-asexual-reproduction","9":"tag-asian-longhorned-tick","10":"tag-environment","11":"tag-invasive-species","12":"tag-lyme-disease","13":"tag-pet-owners","14":"tag-rocky-mountain-spotted-fever","15":"tag-science","16":"tag-tick-prevention","17":"tag-tri-state-area"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/201152","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=201152"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/201152\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/201153"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=201152"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=201152"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=201152"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
