Kyle Busch<\/a> has revealed the driver he was a huge fan of growing up, as he reaches the twilight of his own career. <\/p>\n

\nThe two-time Cup Series<\/a> champion and one-time WWE 24\/7 Championship belt holder has inspired plenty of young drivers in his own career, but admitted recently that it was Jeff Gordon<\/a> who he latched onto as a child. <\/p>\n

\nDespite just a 13-year age gap between the pair, Busch told GOLF\u2019s Subpar<\/a> that he picked out Gordon in the mid-90s when the now-four time champion was breaking out, and Busch himself was just nine years old. <\/p>\n

\nThe veteran driver also namedropped Dale Earnhardt, Mark Martin and Dale Jarrett in his answer, with a whole host of legends around to watch in the 90s. <\/p>\n

Busch reveals father’s sacrifice for NASCAR career<\/p>\n

\nSpeaking about picking out Gordon to root for specifically, Busch said: \u201cIt was 1994, 1995, and he was in the bright colored DuPont rainbow car, and so you know I was like, I\u2019m going to cheer for that guy. He\u2019s new. I\u2019ll stick with the young kid. <\/p>\n

\n“Me being nine years old at the time, and then of course, though, I always enjoyed watching you know Dale Earnhardt, Mark Martin, Dale Jarrett, all those guys that were winning races at that time.\u201d <\/p>\n

\nHe also discussed the sacrifices his father made for his and his brother Kurt’s careers, saying: \u201cI was just a fan of the sport, a lot, just growing up with my dad. My dad was a car guy. He built old \u201932 Fords and things, and had a few old cars that he had, that he collected and stuff. <\/p>\n

\n“He had to sell one of his in order to be able to pay for my brother\u2019s start and my start in racing. So, it was unfortunate to see him have to get rid of one of the cool ones that he built.” <\/p>\n
