\n\tBad Bunny<\/a> is back on Saturday Night Live<\/a>!<\/p>\n

\n\tThe three-time Grammy winner returned for his second time hosting<\/a> on Saturday night, where he addressed some of the backlash surrounding him being named the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show headliner<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tBad Bunny poked fun at conservative criticism of him being tapped to perform at the big game, noting that everyone is excited about his performance, \u201ceven Fox News!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYou might not know this, but I\u2019m doing the Super Bowl Halftime Show. And I\u2019m very happy, and I think everybody\u2019s happy about it,\u201d which led the crowd to erupt in applause, before he continued, \u201cEven Fox News!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSNL<\/a> then cut to a montaged clip of pieced together segments that made out Fox News hosts saying, \u201cBad Bunny is my favorite musician and he should be the next president.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m really excited to be doing the Super Bowl, I know that people all around the world who love my music are also happy,\u201d to which he then began speaking in Spanish. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cEspecially all of the Latinos and Latinas in the world here in the United States who have worked to open doors,\u201d he said in Spanish. \u201cIt\u2019s more than a win for myself, it\u2019s a win for all of us. Our footprints and our contribution in this country, no one will ever be able to take that away or erase it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe finished his monologue off by noting in English, \u201cAnd, if you didn\u2019t understand know what I just said, you have four months to learn!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEarlier in the monologue, a clip of Jon Hamm (who Bad Bunny called Juan Jam\u00f3n) dancing to his music at a show was shown. The SNL cameras then panned over to Hamm in attendance at the show.<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring the cold open, Colin Jost took the stage where he portrayed U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, where he joked that the military would adhere to the highest standards set by President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cOur military will now have the same rules as any good frat party,\u201d he said. \u201cNo fat chicks. And if you\u2019re a fat dude, god damnit, you better be funny as hell.\u201d James Austin Johnson\u2019s Trump then made his return, where he said he was \u201cjust here keeping my eye on SNL, making sure they don\u2019t say anything too mean about me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSNL 51, off to a rough start. 17 new cast members, and they got the \u2018Update\u2019 guy doing the cold open. Look at Colin, poor Colin. We knew they wouldn\u2019t let him do the whole open by himself,\u201d he joked.<\/p>\n

\n\tJohnson\u2019s Trump, too, very briefly touched on the controversy<\/a> surrounding the Riyadh Comedy Festival, noting he was \u201csurprised Colin\u2019s here, I thought he\u2019d be with his friends at the Riyadh Comedy Festival.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tJohnson\u2019s Trump further poked fun at the brief suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live! with a reference to his \u201cattack dog\u201d Brendan Carr, with Mikey Day making an appearance in the cold open as the FCC chair. <\/p>\n

\n\tAfter the news of Bad Bunny being named the headlining act was revealed, Trump adviser Corey Lewandowski said ICE will be in attendance<\/a> at next year\u2019s Super Bowl. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem<\/a> further corroborated Lewandowski\u2019s claims, assuring ICE agents would be \u201call over\u201d the big game.<\/p>\n

\n\tBefore he was named the next Super Bowl headliner, Bad Bunny notably did not have any U.S. dates featured on his Deb\u00ed Tirar M\u00e1s Fotos World Tour. He told i-D Magazine this was partly due to ICE concerns<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThere were many reasons why I didn\u2019t show up in the U.S., and none of them were out of hate \u2014 I\u2019ve performed there many times. All of [the shows] have been successful,\u201d Bad Bunny said. \u201cBut there was the issue of \u2014 like, fucking ICE could be outside [my concert]. And it\u2019s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tElsewhere in the season 51 premiere, EJAE, Rei Ami and Audrey Nuna, who voice characters in Netflix and Sony Animation\u2019s hit movie\u00a0KPop Demon Hunters<\/a>, made a surprise appearance<\/a> during a brunch-themed sketch. Their short cameo saw Bad Bunny\u2019s character raving over the film, to which they then surprised the audience and gave their first-ever live performance of \u201cGolden.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tSeason 51 of SNL comes on the heels of a cast exodus<\/a> this summer. Five cast members separated the show following its landmark 50th season, including Ego Nwodim<\/a>, Heidi Gardner<\/a>, Devon Walker<\/a>, Michael Longfellow<\/a> and Emil Wakim<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tOther than Johnson\u2019s Trump joking about season 51 featuring \u201c17 new cast members\u201d in the cold open, the cast shakeup was not further addressed. <\/p>\n

\n\tPlease Don\u2019t Destroy sketches<\/a> were also thrown out ahead of season 51, which formerly starred Ben Marshall, John Higgins and Martin Herlihy. With the end of the bit, Higgins left SNL, while Marshall now joins<\/a> as a featured player and Herlihy remains on the show\u2019s staff as a writer.\u00a0Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Culhane, Kam Patterson\u00a0and Veronika Slowikowska were also added to the cast.<\/p>\n

\n\tBad Bunny hosted the season 51 premiere of SNL, while Doja Cat<\/a> served as the night\u2019s musical guest, in her first appearance on the sketch comedy series.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe full slate of host and musical guests<\/a> for the rest of the season has not yet been revealed, though Amy Poehler is set to host on Oct. 11 with Role Model as musical guest.
