Maybe it&#8217;s the sheer number of games being played or the relative youth of the players involved, but one thing is certain: It&#8217;s never dull.<\/p>\n<p>Each week throughout the season we&#8217;ll spotlight some of those unlikely occurrences and heroics with a list of nonstatistical superlatives. Here are the best from around the college football world in Week 6.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1756395437_46__end_rule.png\" width=\"100%\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Senior wide receiver Eli Heidenreich had himself a day in the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"6d79fd87-3903-89aa-8028-da81638e6989\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/team\/_\/id\/2426\/navy-midshipmen\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Navy Midshipmen<\/a>&#8216;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/game\/_\/gameId\/401760381\/air-force-navy\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">34-31 win<\/a> over the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"cc5175c1-38c8-8a98-39ad-99b2201c7db7\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/team\/_\/id\/2005\/air-force-falcons\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Air Force Falcons<\/a>. Heidenreich posted eight catches for 243 yards (a Navy record) and three touchdowns, but it was his celebration on his third score that made the rivalry win especially sweet.<\/p>\n<p>After getting behind the Falcons&#8217; defense and catching a deep heave from <a data-player-guid=\"44bb514b-d11d-3eab-aae2-46e52f73cd58\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/_\/id\/5081504\/blake-horvath\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Blake Horvath<\/a>, Heidenreich ran through the end zone and jumped into the stands. Heidenreich&#8217;s leap wasn&#8217;t your average crowd dive though. He had a specific target. The jump took him into the arms of his father, who was sitting in the first row.<\/p>\n<p>California&#8217;s helmets for the Week 6 matchup with the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"33423e84-1594-6373-1025-20cdd256c421\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/team\/_\/id\/150\/duke-blue-devils\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Duke Blue Devils<\/a> featured a unique element that paid tribute to a very fitting set of honorees for the school: Nobel Prize-winning affiliates.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps looking to offer a subtle flex on another elite academic institution, the helmet decals proved no help for the Golden Bears. Duke beat Cal 45-21 in the ACC matchup.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Berkeley&#8217;s got the best and brightest \ud83d\udca1<\/p>\n<p>Honoring the 59 Nobel Prizes and counting won by Cal affiliates on our helmets this weekend.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/SmartAndTough?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">#SmartAndTough<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/GoBears?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">#GoBears<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Xnq5sJuAE1\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/Xnq5sJuAE1<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Cal Football (@CalFootball) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CalFootball\/status\/1974160937436524778?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">October 3, 2025<\/a> Least enjoyable d\u00e9j\u00e0 vu: Bill Belichick<\/p>\n<p>With one second remaining in the first quarter of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/team\/_\/id\/153\/north-carolina-tar-heels\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">North Carolina Tar Heels<\/a>&#8216; Week 6 game against the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"02382072-a5a3-24ff-6bd1-422a029bd33c\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/team\/_\/id\/228\/clemson-tigers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Clemson Tigers<\/a>, the Tigers found the end zone for their fourth touchdown of the game to make the score one very familiar to Bill Belichick: 28-3.<\/p>\n<p>Trailing by that deficit in Super Bowl LI, Belichick and the New England Patriots famously orchestrated the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history to hoist the Lombardi Trophy.<\/p>\n<p>There were no such heroics for Belichick and his new Tar Heel squad Saturday, however. Though Clemson never hit the accelerator &#8212; Tigers backup quarterback <a data-player-guid=\"05d78ed8-9ee1-32a0-8553-a846e26281ac\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/_\/id\/4899369\/christopher-vizzina\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Christopher Vizzina<\/a> was in the game in place of <a data-player-guid=\"7f0d3ee7-3e4f-3f5b-bd7a-1367c9e1869d\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/_\/id\/4685413\/cade-klubnik\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cade Klubnik<\/a> midway through the third quarter &#8212; the game stayed well out of reach for North Carolina the rest of the way. Clemson won <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/game\/_\/gameId\/401754552\/clemson-north-carolina\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">38-10<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Most enjoyable d\u00e9j\u00e0 vu: Jerry Neuheisel<\/p>\n<p>Saturday brought a more positive throwback for new <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"426a47d7-bf9e-2d90-af84-6533b43957e0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/team\/_\/id\/26\/ucla-bruins\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">UCLA Bruins<\/a> offensive playcaller Jerry Neuheisel, who took over the role after DeShaun Foster&#8217;s firing brought a staff shakeup.<\/p>\n<p>Neuheisel orchestrated an offensive clinic against the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"899b6845-67a4-16b2-c4a6-2406312be7fc\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/team\/_\/id\/213\/penn-state-nittany-lions\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Penn State Nittany Lions<\/a> in Week 6, helping the Bruins post 42 points in a stunning <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/game\/_\/gameId\/401752855\/penn-state-ucla\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">42-37 upset<\/a>. After the game, an elated Neuheisel was carried away from the sideline by his players, harkening back to the time when, as a UCLA player himself, he was hoisted onto the shoulders of his teammates after leading the Bruins to a win over the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"013a8bab-0dd5-f6a0-45e6-1128a124f34b\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/team\/_\/id\/251\/texas-longhorns\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Texas Longhorns<\/a> in 2014.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/story\/_\/id\/46489952\/ucla-notches-first-victory-season-stuns-no-7-penn-state\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">READ MORE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Most impressive flow state: <a data-player-guid=\"aa52f37f-ffcd-34d4-ac98-a4f045877bcf\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/_\/id\/4881032\/taron-dickens\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Taron Dickens<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a data-clubhouse-guid=\"b111a1e5-8e6c-8c71-0605-9e84ee31b705\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/team\/_\/id\/2717\/western-carolina-catamounts\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Western Carolina Catamounts<\/a> quarterback <a data-player-guid=\"aa52f37f-ffcd-34d4-ac98-a4f045877bcf\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/_\/id\/4881032\/taron-dickens\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Taron Dickens<\/a> completed his first pass attempt of the day against the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"6235fec2-035b-94e8-ef99-2e58d2afcc65\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/team\/_\/id\/2747\/wofford-terriers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wofford Terriers<\/a> in Week 6. And then his second. And his third. And his fourth. Dickens was in a rhythm &#8230; to the point where he went on to complete a staggering 46 consecutive passes, setting an FCS record.<\/p>\n<p>Dickens finished the game with 53-of-56 passing, amassing 378 yards and three touchdowns in the process. His efforts weren&#8217;t for naught. The Catamounts took down the Terriers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/game\/_\/gameId\/401767592\/w-carolina-wofford\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">23-21<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Locked in a tie against Ivy League foe <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"0daec762-b04c-0582-09bb-7433e5b71530\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/team\/_\/id\/159\/dartmouth-big-green\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dartmouth Big Green<\/a> early on in the third quarter, the Pennsylvania Quakers took a lead they wouldn&#8217;t relinquish on a play where no Quakers player got within 5 yards of the ball &#8230; that started on the 35-yard line.<\/p>\n<p>After their first drive of the second half stalled, the Big Green brought out the punt unit to send the ball away. There was just one problem: The snap sailed over the head of punter <a data-player-guid=\"0482dbd7-a3b9-3946-bf52-e9ba50445a17\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/_\/id\/5229244\/luke-armistead\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Luke Armistead<\/a>, bounding toward the Dartmouth end zone. After a brief attempt to scoop up the ball failed, Armistead opted for the safe choice and kicked the ball out of the back of the end zone. Wilson got open and raced down the sideline, managing to stay in bounds even as he did a 360-degree spin while breaking a tackle attempt by a Longhorns defender. His deft feet proved pivotal. Texas would score again to get within a touchdown, but the Gators held on for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/game\/_\/gameId\/401752727\/texas-florida\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">29-21 win<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"There&#8217;s nothing quite like college football.
