The graphic includes UToledo and Blade logos.\u00a0\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\"  \/>The panel will be moderated by David Shribman, a Pulitzer Prize-winning, nationally syndicated columnist and executive editor emeritus of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.<\/p>\n<p>Panelists are:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0 Jeremy Gilbert, who explores how new tools and techniques, including artificial intelligence, affect media as the Knight Chair in Digital Media Strategy at Northwestern University\u2019s Medill School of Journalism.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 \u00a0Dr. William McCreary, who oversees advances in artificial intelligence through partnerships and other initiatives as chief information officer and chief technology officer at UToledo.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 \u00a0Dr. Jason Opal, who brings a passion for interdisciplinary collaboration, especially projects involving artificial intelligence, to his role as dean and director of the Ohio State University at Mansfield.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 \u00a0Dr. Christopher Warren, who uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to investigate the history of the free press and social networks as a professor of English at Carnegie Mellon University.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 \u00a0Dr. Michael Whitfield, who uses genomic and computational approaches to identify the molecular basis of autoimmunity as a professor and chair of the Department of Biomedical Data Science at Dartmouth College\u2019s Geisel School of Medicine.<\/p>\n<p>Perspectives, launched by UToledo and The Blade in 2024, is a series of events in which national panelists discuss a variety of topics alongside UToledo experts.<\/p>\n<p>This month\u2019s event is part of a slate of campus activities leading up to the inauguration of Dr. James Holloway as the 19th president of UToledo at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, in Savage Arena.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Perspectives series has become a valuable opportunity for the community to engage with UToledo,\u201d Holloway said. \u201cArtificial intelligence is a timely and thought-provoking topic with implications for our daily lives that we\u2019re only beginning to understand.
