Taylor Swift<\/a> appeared on \u201cThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon\u201d this week to discuss her latest album, \u201cThe Life of a Showgirl<\/a>,\u201d and her recent engagement to Travis Kelce<\/a> \u2014 and, of course, to talk about bread.<\/p>\n

Jimmy Fallon started the show off by shouting, \u201cShe\u2019s here!\u201d<\/p>\n

He then called Swift \u201cthe mother of all guests.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI listened to the album so many times that now I think I\u2019m in love with Travis Kelce,\u201d Fallon joked.<\/p>\n

He skipped the monologue after the members of his band told him, \u201cDude, we\u2019re here for her,\u201d and he then proceeded to introduce Swift and list out all of her accolades.<\/p>\n

As he introduced her, he continually had to yell over the screaming audience.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have to let her talk,\u201d he finally said, to quiet down the audience. \u201cThat\u2019s the loudest intro to the \u2018Tonight Show.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Taylor Swift on \u2018The Life of a Showgirl\u2019<\/p>\n

When asked about her latest project \u201cThe Life of a Showgirl,\u201d Swift said, \u201cThis was a surprise and secret I\u2019ve been carrying around for a year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Seeing the fans\u2019 reactions to the album, she compared it to knowing you have the perfect Christmas gift for somebody and the anticipation leading up to them opening it, and how much joy it brings to see them open and enjoy the gift.<\/p>\n

Her last album, \u201cThe Tortured Poets Department,\u201d was a more heavy, raw and dense album in comparison to the frills and pomp of \u201cThe Life of a Showgirl.\u201d<\/p>\n

She revealed that she likes to \u201cshowcase\u201d aspects of her personality in each album \u2014 like with her previous album, \u201cTortured Poets Department.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTortured Poets Department was really highlighting the facets of me that are like a writer who\u2019s earnest and stoic and raw,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cPain and excruciating detail, that was the character of the poet,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n

Whereas this album channeled a showgirl \u2014 sassy and funny and feisty.<\/p>\n

Taylor Swift talks engagement to Travis Kelce<\/p>\n

Fallon offered congratulations on her engagement and asked her to show off the ring, which she did happily.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s just my favorite person I\u2019ve ever met,\u201d she said of Kelce. \u201cNo offense to everyone else.\u201d<\/p>\n

After rumors swirled, Swift confirmed that the couple got engaged right after the podcast they recorded for Kelce\u2019s \u201cNew Heights\u201d show, which he co-hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce.<\/p>\n

Swift pondered whether having her on the podcast was just a ruse to keep her from looking out the back windows of the house, because Kelce had a crew bringing in flowers to create a secret garden for the proposal.<\/p>\n

She noticed he was acting extra nervous and even mentioned his heart racing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve never seen this dude nervous,\u201d she said. \u201cHe\u2019s professionally not a nervous person.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taylor Swift addresses internet rumors<\/p>\n

Fallon introduced a game that ended up being slightly confusing, where he read five rumors that have swirled on the internet about Swift and then she revealed which rumor was true.<\/p>\n

Here are the five rumors:<\/p>\n

Rumor 1: \u201cTaylor Swift, you turned down the Super Bowl halftime show because the NFL wouldn\u2019t allow you to own your performance footage.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rumor 2: \u201cYour close friend, Ed Sheeran, learned about your engagement like everyone else did on Instagram.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rumor 3: \u201cIn your speech at Selena Gomez\u2019s wedding, you joked that Selena beat you to the altar.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rumor 4: \u201cYou\u2019ve been spotted walking a mystery dog in Florida.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rumor 5: \u201cTravis Kelce can be heard harmonizing on \u2018Opalite.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Fallon guessed that she joked that Gomez beat her to the altar during her speech at Gomez\u2019s wedding.<\/p>\n

\u201cI did make a speech, but I made a point not to mention anything about my engagement,\u201d she said. \u201cNobody cares about my engagement.\u201d<\/p>\n

Swift then disclosed that the true rumor was that Sheeran discovered she was engaged through Instagram because \u201che doesn\u2019t have a phone!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is something I love about him,\u201d Swift said. \u201cHe doesn\u2019t have a phone. It\u2019s eccentric.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the Super Bowl halftime show, she revealed she\u2019s been in talks to perform but is \u201ctoo locked in\u201d to supporting Kelce on the field.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am in love with a guy who plays that sport,\u201d she said. \u201cThe whole season, I am locked in.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taylor Swift talks \u2018The Life of a Showgirl\u2019 songs<\/p>\n

They played the song \u201cOpalite\u201d for the crowd, and the entire crowd sang along to every word of the chorus of the brand-new bop.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve had like six minutes to learn all the words, and you\u2019ve done it. That\u2019s unbelievable,\u201d Swift said.<\/p>\n

She described the song as an interesting metaphor for picking and choosing your own happiness.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have to sometimes make your own happiness just like how men made opal,\u201d Swift said.<\/p>\n

About Track 8, \u201cWi$h Li$t,\u201d she said it was partly inspired by the movie \u201cHappy Gilmore,\u201d where he has his happy place.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat chorus, I wanted to show you what mine is and how mine would sound,\u201d she said. \u201cThat\u2019s utopia for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

She said it\u2019s about building a life with that person and a home, and continued to rave about Kelce.<\/p>\n

\u201cI like learned about sports for this man,\u201d she said. \u201cI love them. I don\u2019t want to do them. I\u2019ll watch.\u201d<\/p>\n

About the final track, \u201cThe Life of a Showgirl,\u201d she said when it all came together, the first thought she had was of Sabrina Carpenter.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs sort of entertainers, one of our main jobs is to be a mirror for people,\u201d she said. \u201cThe art we make, you see yourself back. The way you feel about our art has a lot to do with the experience you\u2019re having at this point in time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taylor Swift discusses \u2018The Fate of Ophelia\u2019 music video<\/p>\n

Each scene in the massive production of \u201cThe Fate of Ophelia\u201d is one take. The entire backup dance and backup singing crews, as well as her band, are all included in the production of the video.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat felt more like the energy of a performance when it\u2019s make it or break it, you hit your marks or you don\u2019t,\u201d she said. \u201cSo that was really fun to have that energy going and to be in rehearsals again with that entire group of people that I had with me on The Eras Tour, and they\u2019re all in the video. It just felt like this joyous reunion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taylor Swift talks about bread once again<\/p>\n

Swift has been open about her obsession with baking sourdough bread, and took some time during her interview to bring up bread once again after Fallon asked her about the sourdough bread featured in the music video.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have these baking or cooking obsessions where it becomes my entire personality,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
