Asia-Pacific markets traded mixed Wednesday, breaking ranks from Wall Street losses, after the World Bank<\/a> raised the region’s growth forecast Tuesday.<\/a><\/p>\n That comes after a summer that saw\u00a0U.S. tariff<\/a>-led uncertainty rock the global economy.<\/p>\n Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225<\/a> was little changed, while the the Topix added 0.62%. <\/p>\n Australia’s ASX\/S&P 200 fell 0.3%.<\/p>\n Futures for Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index<\/a> stood at 27,165, higher than its Tuesday close of 26,957.77.<\/p>\n Mainland China and South Korean markets are closed for the holidays.<\/p>\n The Bank of Thailand and Reserve Bank of New Zealand are set to release their policy decisions later in the day.<\/p>\n Overnight in the U.S., the three major averages closed lower. The\u00a0S&P 500<\/a>\u00a0struggled Tuesday, bogged down by a drop in\u00a0Oracle<\/a>\u00a0shares as investors worry about the profitability of the artificial intelligence trade. Wall Street also looked for more developments out of Washington with the U.S. government shutdown in its second week.<\/p>\n The broad market index pulled back 0.38% to close at 6,714.59, snapping a 7-day winning streak, while the\u00a0Nasdaq Composite<\/a>\u00a0fell 0.67% to finish at 22,788.36.
