After losing Antonio Gibson to a torn ACL<\/a>, the New England Patriots have added to the backfield depth chart.<\/p>\n

The organization announced<\/a> the signing of running back Jashaun Corbin to the practice squad on Tuesday. To make room, offensive lineman Royce Newman was released from the group of 17.<\/p>\n

Corbin, 25, went undrafted out of Texas A&M and Florida State in 2022. He has been a member of the New York Giants, Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons since then. Handling three catches and one carry through six games, his NFL career includes 15 snaps on offense and 118 snaps on special teams.<\/p>\n

Last fall, Corbin signed with the San Antonio Brahmas and earned a spot on the All-UFL team after leading the league with 514 rushing yards in the spring. Scoring four touchdowns, he added 138 receiving yards and 252 return yards.<\/p>\n

Working out in Foxborough alongside fellow backs Damien Martinez and Deon Jackson, the 5-foot-11, 215-pound Corbin now joins Terrell Jennings on the practice squad. Starter Rhamondre Stevenson and rookie TreVeyon Henderson reside on the 53-man roster as a move to injured reserve<\/a> looms.<\/p>\n

Newman, 28, landed on<\/a> New England\u2019s practice squad midway through September as a veteran of 52 games and 24 starts. The Ole Miss product was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL draft at No. 142 overall. He has made subsequent stops with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Arizona Cardinals.<\/p>\n

With experience at left guard, right guard as well as right tackle, the 6-foot-5, 310-pound Newman\u2019s career spans 1,721 snaps on offense and 174 snaps on special teams.<\/p>\n

Head coach Mike Vrabel\u2019s side will visit the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
