{"id":208853,"date":"2025-10-08T10:30:09","date_gmt":"2025-10-08T10:30:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/208853\/"},"modified":"2025-10-08T10:30:09","modified_gmt":"2025-10-08T10:30:09","slug":"newsom-signs-bill-that-restricts-loudness-of-streaming-ads","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/208853\/","title":{"rendered":"Newsom Signs Bill That Restricts Loudness Of Streaming Ads"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/streaming\/\" id=\"auto-tag_streaming\" data-tag=\"streaming\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Streaming<\/a> services in California will have to ensure that their <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/commercials\/\" id=\"auto-tag_commercials\" data-tag=\"commercials\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">commercials<\/a> are no louder than the shows surrounding them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tCalifornia Governor <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/gavin-newsom\/\" id=\"auto-tag_gavin-newsom\" data-tag=\"gavin-newsom\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gavin Newsom<\/a> signed a bill, SB 576, that bars the services \u201cfrom transmitting the audio of commercial advertisements louder than the video content the advertisements accompany.\u201d The legislation cleared the legislature with no opposition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cWe heard Californians loud and clear, and what\u2019s clear is that they don\u2019t want commercials at a volume any louder than the level at which\u00a0they were\u00a0previously enjoying a\u00a0program,\u201d Newsom said in a statement. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe governor noted that federal law \u2014 the Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation Act of 2010 \u2014 already prohibits TV stations and cable operators from featuring the loud commercials. The state bill extends the restrictions to streamers, who increasingly have been turning to advertising as part of their business models.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tSen.
