{"id":210179,"date":"2025-10-08T22:47:08","date_gmt":"2025-10-08T22:47:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/210179\/"},"modified":"2025-10-08T22:47:08","modified_gmt":"2025-10-08T22:47:08","slug":"taran-armstrong-joins-dubai-basketball-leaves-steph-curry-warriors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/210179\/","title":{"rendered":"Taran Armstrong joins Dubai Basketball, leaves Steph Curry &#038; Warriors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAN FRANCISCO \u2013 The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2025\/07\/19\/what-we-learned-about-warriors-from-nba-summer-league\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">best player from the Warriors\u2019 ragtag Summer League<\/a> squad will not return to the Bay Area.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2025\/07\/18\/taran-armstrong-warriors-nba-summer-league-2025\/?utm_source=twitter.com&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_content=tw-mercnews&amp;utm_campaign=socialflow\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Australian point guard Taran Armstrong<\/a> signed with Dubai Basketball in the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/fantasy\/basketball\/news\/taran-armstrong-continuing-career-in-dubai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">according to multiple reports<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Because Golden State tendered a qualifying offer to the 6-foot-5 Armstrong in June, the NBA team retains his exclusive negotiating rights in the event that he returns to the NBA.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 23-year-old signed with the Warriors in February and played 11 games for Santa Cruz, but did not suit up for the Warriors in the regular season or playoffs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Before that, Armstrong won the <a href=\"https:\/\/cbulancers.com\/news\/2022\/3\/7\/mens-basketball-armstrong-named-wac-freshman-of-the-year.aspx\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Western Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year award<\/a> at Cal Baptist in 2022, and played pro basketball in Australia following his early departure from college.<\/p>\n<p>Armstrong averaged 7.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 5.0 assists for the Warriors across five Summer League games in Las Vegas and San Francisco in July.<\/p>\n<p>He credited the Golden State veterans for his improvement over the summer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was such a cool experience being in the playoff locker room, and being able to sit in and be a part of those meetings and see what goes into preparing for a game seven,\u201d Armstrong told the Bay Area News Group in July.<\/p>\n<p>He was previously linked to Serbian powerhouse KK Partizan, a perennial participant in the EuroLeague competition.<\/p>\n<p>Dubai will also participate in the EuroLeague this season. He is expected to play a featured role on the team, something that he would not have had with the Warriors. <\/p>\n<p>At shooting guard, the Warriors added Steph Curry\u2019s younger brother and noted sharpshooter Seth Curry this offseason, and expect third-year Santa Clara product Brandin Podziemski to take a more featured role.
