(KATV) \u2014 The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has confirmed a truck collision led to the death of a Mountain Lion on Highway 84 in Hot Spring County.<\/p>\n<p>Near Social Hill, the incident occurred at about 10 p.m. on October 8, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The big cat was later identified as a healthy male, weighing about 160 pounds, according to AGFC.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We currently don&#8217;t have confirmed evidence of reproducing population in the state,&#8221; said Randy Zellers, AGFC assistant chief of communications.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is the first mountain lion confirmed dead in the wild in Arkansas since February 2024 and only the third confirmed dead since 1975,&#8221; according to a release.<\/p>\n<p>Arkansas Game and Fish Commission staff collected the large cat from the Hot Spring County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>Zellers said they don&#8217;t have confirmed evidence of a reproducing population in the state. <\/p>\n<p>As of now, AGFC is using its DNA sample to determine where it originated. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Social Hill, Ark.
