The Washington Huskies were fired up after their thrilling comeback win over Maryland last week.<\/p>\n
Now, they’ll look to carry that momentum into this week’s matchup against the visiting Rutgers Scarlet Knights. My Rutgers vs. Washington predictions? A breakout performance from Huskies quarterback Demond Williams.<\/p>\n

Rutgers vs Washington prediction<\/p>\n Rutgers vs Washington best bet: Demond Williams Jr. Over 261.5 passing yards (-114)<\/p>\n The Washington Huskies<\/a> were trailing Maryland 20-3 heading into the fourth quarter, and a win seemed unlikely, but Demond Williams Jr. & Co. never gave up. He threw for 275 yards and two touchdown passes, both obviously coming in the fourth, leading his team to an improbable 24-20 win and improving their record to 4-1.<\/p>\n The sophomore signal-caller is looking better with each passing game, throwing for 746 yards with six touchdowns and one interception over two Big Ten matchups and a game against rival Washington State. I like him to keep slinging it in this Friday night matchup with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights<\/a>.<\/p>\n Rutgers began the season 3-0 but has dropped its first two conference games to sit at 3-2 heading into this matchup, and one of the Scarlet Knights\u2019 biggest problems has been their pass defense.<\/p>\n Rutgers has been tormented by opposing quarterbacks, ranking 127th in defensive success rate on dropbacks and 107th in EPA per dropback. Which, sure, that\u2019s bad, but it\u2019s made even worse when you consider the two Big Ten teams they’ve faced have been Iowa and Minnesota. Not exactly world beaters when it comes to aerial assaults.<\/p>\n Williams will be the best passer they’ve seen by far this season, and he has a modest passing yards prop sitting at 261.5, a number he\u2019s gone Over in two of his last three games. The one he didn\u2019t was against Ohio State, one of the best pass defenses in the country. Rutgers ain\u2019t that.<\/p>\n Rutgers vs Washington same-game parlay<\/p>\n The Huskies have spent a lot of time this season watching this offense sputter, but Williams is starting to find his rhythm, and that shouldn’t stop against one of the worst passing defenses in the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n And we have very recently watched the Scarlet Knights give up 31 points to Minnesota and 38 points to Iowa. So, I like Washington to get Over its team total in this game.<\/p>\n Helping out the cause will be wideout Dezmen Roebuck. The Scarlet Knights are 10.5-point road dogs in a tough environment at Huskies Stadium, but most importantly, I don’t know how they’ll slow down Demond Williams Jr.<\/p>\n Rutgers vs Washington spread prediction<\/p>\n I lean toward Washington to cover the spread because I believe they should be closer to two-touchdown favorites thanks to their huge edge with Williams going against one of the worst passing defenses in the country. However, this feels like a spot where a backdoor cover could play spoiler.\u00a0<\/p>\n Rutgers vs Washington Over\/Under prediction<\/p>\n I like the Over even on what’s a bit of an elevated number. Like I said, Washington should have success moving the ball through the air, but the Huskies may not be alone in that regard.
