\n\tPARIS \u2014 On the eve of World Mental Health Day, La Roche-Posay<\/a> screened its \u201cScars of Life\u201d documentary that delves into scars\u2019 visible and invisible repercussions.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe 25-minute film, produced by Elephant, was shown at the Path\u00e9 Palace theater in Paris that was renovated by architect Renzo Piano. The documentary is currently available on YouTube.<\/p>\n

\n\tL\u2019Oreal-owned La Roche-Posay <\/a>has since its founding 50 years ago the mission to ease and change the life of more than 2 billion people around the world who live with skin issues, according to Alexandra Reni-Catherine, global brand general manager at La Roche-Posay.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt isn\u2019t a small mission,\u201d the executive said. \u201cWe are committed to it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tToday, La Roche-Posay is the number-one brand dermatologists recommend to their patients. \u201cOur responsibility is to act,\u201d Reni-Catherine said, adding that is true for everyone \u2014 including babies and ill people and future generations.<\/p>\n

\n\tSkin health is considered public health for the brand, she continued.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cScars of Life\u201d is a pastiche of testimonials, including from dermatologists and sociologists, as well as people faced with skin conditions.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThey are very authentic, raw,\u201d Reni-Catherine said. \u201cVery touching and moving.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPeople in the documentary speak openly not only about their skin issues, but also the scars they leave, which can negatively impact quality of life. La Roche-Posay aims to lift the taboos and break the silence around scars so as to help people better live their lives.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe all have scars, and beyond each scar is a story. They tell to the world who we are and what we have been through,\u201d a voice-over says at the documentary\u2019s start. \u201cScars can be the result of a wound, a sin pathology or a surgery. How deeply do they affect our lives, and how are they perceived in the public eye?<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThey can be wanted or unwanted, visible or invisible, celebrated or stigmatized,\u201d the voice continued. \u201cIt\u2019s time to break the taboo around scars, for dialogue and science\u2019s promises for a better care and understanding of our scars.\u201d<\/p>\n
