\n\tJourney<\/a>\u2019s Jonathan Cain<\/a> is set to depart the band after one more tour.<\/p>\n

\n\tCain\u2019s longtime bandmate \u2014 and frequent foe<\/a> \u2014 Neal Schon<\/a> effectively broke the news on social media<\/a> last night (Oct. 9), though his initial post left some confusion about the exact details of Cain\u2019s departure. Originally, Schon wrote, \u201cJonathan Cain<\/a> announced his farewell to Journey tonight. I\u2019m nowhere near done! Journey has so much more life ahead! I\u2019m sure we will have a great tour!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile Schon\u2019s tweet made it seem like Cain\u2019s departure was effective immediately, on Friday afternoon he shared another post<\/a> clarifying that Cain would be touring with the band \u201call through\u201d 2026 and 2027 \u201ccelebrating the music we\u2019ve created.\u201d Journey haven\u2019t announced any tour dates for 2026 and 2027 yet, and it\u2019s unclear if the band will continue without Cain after that.<\/p>\n

\n\tCain\u2019s management also released a statement, saying, \u201cJonathan Cain remains an active member of Journey, and any reports suggesting otherwise are inaccurate. He is fully dedicated to touring with the band over the next couple of years and has only expressed plans to retire at a later time\u201d (via Consequence<\/a>).\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tReps for Journey did not immediately return a request for additional comment.<\/p>\n

\n\tCain seemingly teased his exit from the band last week during an appearance on on the Strang Report<\/a> podcast, where he was promoting his tribute song to Charlie Kirk. He was speaking about some of his upcoming musical projects \u2014 including a solo EP that he said would be out by the end of the year \u2014 before saying, \u201cThen of course, we go on the Journey tour in 2026. On our farewell Journey tour. So I\u2019ll be saying goodbye to that. And I\u2019ll probably move into ministry and worship; I feel a calling there.\u201d (Cain\u2019s wife, Paula White-Cain, is a prominent pastor and televangelist<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n\tCain joined Journey in 1980 and was a key part of the band\u2019s monumental run during that decade. He co-wrote \u201cDon\u2019t Stop Believin\u2019,\u201d and also wrote or co-wrote hits like \u201cFaithfully,\u201d \u201cSeparate Ways (Worlds Apart),\u201d \u201cOpen Arms,\u201d and \u201cBe Good To Yourself.\u201d Cain left the band in 1987, was part of a one-off show in 1991, and has been part of the Journey lineup since they officially reunited in 1995.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile Journey has remained very active in recent years, they\u2019ve toured against a backdrop of almost constant bickering \u2014 both in the press and the courts \u2014 between Cain and Schon.
