According to the publication, the list<\/a> features 1,200 nursing homes across 33 states, according to data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and is intended to assist older adults and their families as they consider long-term care options.<\/p>\n Facilities, according to Newsweek’s Global Editor-in-Chief Nancy Cooper, were selected after the publication considered performance data, recommendations of medical professionals, accreditations and resident satisfaction.<\/p>\n Here are New York’s top nursing homes in the small, mid and large categories, according to the weekly publication.<\/p>\n The Jewish Home The Jewish Home on South Winton Road in Brighton.<\/p>\n The Jewish Home<\/a>\u00a0on South Winton Road in Brighton topped the list among the largest facilities considered – with more than 150 beds, according to Newsweek.<\/p>\n This year marks the fifth consecutive year that The Jewish Home was on the list, and the second straight year that the facility ranked first in New York.<\/p>\n Michele Schirano, Senior Vice President and Administrator at Jewish Home, said that the honor ” is a testament to the high level of medical care and compassion we provide at Jewish Home.”<\/p>\n The Jewish Home \u2014 also previously known as Jewish Senior Life \u2014 offers independent living, assisted living and long-term care are all on one campus.<\/p>\n According to its website, it is the only Continuing Care Retirement Community in Rochester. The facility has 362 certified beds and accepts both Medicare and Medicaid.<\/p>\n The Jewish Home has been operating in the region for more than a century, since 1920. The facility is in the process of expanding with the construction of a 90-unit apartment complex and 35 independent living cottages, according to the center’s website.<\/a><\/p>\n Belair Nursing & Rehabilitation Center<\/p>\n Located in North Bellmore, Nassau County,\u00a0Belair Nursing & Rehabilitation Center<\/a>\u00a0topped the list among the mid-sized facilities considered \u2014 with 100 to 149 beds, according to Newsweek.<\/p>\n According to its website, Belair offers short-term and long-term care, rehabilitation, assisted living and memory care\u00a0services.<\/p>\n There are 102 certified beds in the facility, which accepts both Medicare and Medicaid. The facility is not a continuing care retirement community.<\/p>\n Jefferson’s Ferry<\/p>\n Located in South Setauket, Suffolk County, Jefferson’s Ferry<\/a> topped the list among facilities with 50-99 beds, the smallest facilities considered for the list.<\/p>\n The center, according to its website offers independent living, assisted living, memory care and other services.
