\n\tAfter a week that saw talent agencies, the MPA and SAG-AFTRA\u2019s Sean Astin call out OpenAI<\/a>\u2019s video-generating app, Amy Poehler<\/a> used her opening monologue on Saturday Night Live<\/a> to call out the existential threat to Hollywood.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBefore we start the show, I just wanted to say one thing,\u201d said Poehler. \u201cI know it can feel like times are very tough right now, and in some ways, they always have been, and they always will be. So I\u2019ll just say this, there\u2019s a place that feels like home that you can go back to and laugh with your friends. Consider yourself lucky, and I do. And to that little AI robot watching TV right now who wants to be on this stage someday, I say to you be boop be boop be boop \u2026 which translates to, you\u2019ll never be able to write a joke, you stupid robot!\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tPoehler also noted in her opener that 50 years ago today, the very first episode of SNL<\/a> aired. \u201cThat episode was hosted by George Carlin and just like George Carlin I am extremely high.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s always a dream come true to be here,\u201d she continued. \u201cI remember watching the show in the \u201970s, sitting in my house in Burlington, Massachusetts thinking, \u2018I want to be an actress someday, at least until they invent an AI actress who\u2019s funnier and willing to do full frontal.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBut 50, wow! You know what\u2019s nice about turning 50? You start to not care about what people think. And that\u2019s what\u2019s so great about SNL. She\u2019s obviously stopped caring.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPoehler ended her monologue by saying she was always willing to do \u201cfull frontal but nobody asked me.\u201d<\/p>\n
