\n\tAmy Poehler<\/a> kicked off her Saturday Night Live<\/a> opening monologue by commemorating the official 50th anniversary of the show\u2019s first episode \u2014 while also pointing out some of the major advancements in technology since its debut. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe Good Hang podcast host affirmed it was \u201cactually a very special night for the show, not just because I\u2019m here, but because 50 years ago today, on Oct. 11, 1975, the very first episode of SNL<\/a> aired.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBut you know, the world looked a lot different in 1975. For one thing, women couldn\u2019t even have credit cards yet,\u201d she started. \u201cYeah, but now I\u2019m kind of like somebody take my credit card away, am I right?\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tPoehler went on to reference the recently launched AI actress Tilly Norwood<\/a>, who has been dominating headlines and polarizing Hollywood<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI remember watching the show in the \u201970s, sitting in my house in Burlington, Massachusetts thinking, \u2018I wanna be an actress someday, at least until they invent an AI<\/a> actress who\u2019s funnier and willing to do full frontal,’\u201d she said. <\/p>\n

\n\tLater in her monologue, Poehler acknowledged that \u201cit can feel like times are very tough right now,\u201d while giving another shoutout to the controversial AI actress.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBefore we start the show, I just wanted to say one thing: I know it can feel like times are very tough right now, and in some ways they always have been and they always will be, so I\u2019ll just say this \u2014 if there\u2019s a place that feels like home that you can go back to and laugh with your friends, consider yourself lucky, and I do,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd to that little AI robot watching TV right now who wants to be on this stage someday, I say to you, \u2018Beep boop beep boop.\u2019 Which translates to, \u2018You\u2019ll never be able to write a joke, you stupid robot.\u2019<\/p>\n

\n\tShe added, \u201cAnd I am willing to do front full frontal, but nobody\u2019s asked me, okay!\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tDuring the cold open, Poehler impersonated United States Attorney General Pam Bondi. She wasn\u2019t alone, though, as Tina Fey made a surprise SNL return to portray Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe bit kicked off by poking fun at the Senate hearing that took place earlier this week. Poehler\u2019s Bondi introduced herself, noting, \u201cMy name is Pam Bondi. I spell it with an \u2018I\u2019 cause I ain\u2019t gonna answer any of your questions. My time is valuable. The DOJ has many ongoing operations, and we\u2019re moving like Kash Patel\u2019s eyeballs very quickly in multiple directions at once.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tShe was later questioned about the presence of ICE in Chicago, to which Poehler\u2019s Bondi said, \u201cYou\u2019ll have to ask Homeland Security Director Kristi Noem.\u201d Fey\u2019s Noem then entered the shot.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThat\u2019s right, it\u2019s me, Kristi,\u201d she said. \u201cI spelled my name with an \u2018I\u2019 because that\u2019s how I\u00a0thought\u00a0it was spelled.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFey\u2019s Noem added, \u201cAnd I\u2019m the rarest type of person in Washington D.C., a brunette that Donald Trump listens to.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tSaturday night marked the third time the Parks and Recreation\u00a0star hosted the late night show. Poehler served as an SNL cast member from 2001-2008, and she\u2019s made several cameo appearances since her departure. Role Model joined as musical guest.<\/p>\n

\n\tAhead of Poehler\u2019s SNL return, she took part in a promo video<\/a> where she jokingly admitted she didn\u2019t know who any of the new cast additions were. Newcomers<\/a> Jeremy Culhane, Kam Patterson and Veronika Slowikowska starred in the bit, which marks one of the only moments (so far) of season 51 that has lightly addressed this summer\u2019s cast overhaul<\/a>, which saw Ego Nwodim<\/a>,\u00a0Heidi Gardner<\/a>,\u00a0Michael Longfellow<\/a>,\u00a0Emil Wakim<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Devon Walker<\/a>\u00a0exit the lineup.<\/p>\n

\n\tSo far, only the first three sets of hosts and musical guests for SNL season 51<\/a> have been revealed. Bad Bunny and Doja Cat kicked off show\u2019s premiere episode<\/a>, while Sabrina Carpenter will pull double duty in both roles during the Oct. 18 show. <\/p>\n
