It all started when Julia Suarez, who was behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Blazer on Highway 73 in Iron Station, North Carolina, took a routine left-hand turn that proved to be terrifying. According to Master Trooper Chris Casey of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, another vehicle slammed into the Blazer from behind, setting off a chain of chaotic events.<\/p>\n
In the wreck, Suarez\u2019s mother, Rosaline Graza, suffered a broken collarbone while his wife, Julia, and mother-in-law, Sylvia Tamsma, endured cuts and bruises, the Mexican driver told NBC Sports. The initial impact sent the Blazer careening into oncoming traffic, where it was sideswiped and shoved into the path of another vehicle, Master Trooper Casey explained.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, Daniel Suarez<\/a> dropped the news about his family\u2019s recovery. He said, \u201cFirst of all, I want to thank God for keeping them safe. It was a very scary situation. I was in the middle of my competition meeting when I received the call. Luckily, (wife) Julia is good besides a few bruises and a couple of cuts on her head. She\u2019s fine. Her mom has a lot of bruises as well, and a couple of little impacts as well. She\u2019s fine.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cMy mom, from the back seat, got the worse end of it with bruises and cuts on her face and collarbone broken in a few pieces but she already had surgery a couple of days ago and she\u2019s already recovering at home. The driver responsible, Randall Scott Goodman Jr. of Iron Station, faces charges for failure to reduce speed as well as a registration violation and an inspection violation, according to the trooper.<\/p>\n The No. 99 driver for Trackhouse Racing has received a lot of support and love from fans and fellow drivers<\/a> alike since he first divulged this information to the NASCAR world almost a week ago.
