An ex-girlfriend who helped expose Lostprophets rocker Ian Watkins as being a dangerous pedophile says she\u2019s glad he was murdered in prison<\/a> \u2014 and just surprised it didn\u2019t happen sooner.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was always waiting for this phone call,\u201d Joanne Mjadzelics told the Daily Mail<\/a> of her rocker ex having his throat slashed in the UK prison where he was serving 29 years for sex crimes, even against babies.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was walking around with a target on his back from the first day he entered the prison,\u201d she said. \u201cI expected it to have happened earlier.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mjadzelics said she lived in constant fear of Watkins \u201cgetting out and tracking me down\u201d in revenge for her role in helping to expose his crimes before his 2013 conviction.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a relief,\u201d she said of his brutal death. \u201cI wanted him dead for a long time after everything he did. I am relieved, I feel like a weight has been lifted from my head.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mjadzelics said she doesn\u2019t grieve her ex \u2014 because she never knew the true him, whom she then repeatedly reported to authorities once she realized what he was like.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe man I fell in love with never existed,\u201d she said. \u201cHe manipulated me and that man who died today in prison was a stranger to me. I never loved him, he just put on a character.\u201d<\/p>\n

Watkins, 48, had enjoyed success<\/a> with the Lostprophets for over a decade when he was arrested in 2012 for drug crimes. <\/p>\n

When police searched his home, they found a trove of child porn and even bestiality material \u2014 just as his ex had been reporting to authorities for years.<\/p>\n

The rocker later admitted to preying on female fans\u2019 babies, with one text to a young mom saying: \u201cIf you belong to me, so does your baby.\u201d<\/p>\n

He was eventually sentenced to more than three decades in prison, with a judge later blocking him from appealing because of his \u201cshocking depravity,\u201d the Independent reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Watkins was killed Saturday morning as he was leaving his cell. <\/p>\n

An inmate accosted him with a shank and cut his jugular, leaving him to bleed out on the cellblock.<\/p>\n

Sources said the bloody murder was \u201cbrutal\u201d and \u201cshocking, even by prison standards.\u201d<\/p>\n

His killer has reportedly been apprehended<\/a>, along with a second person connected to the murder.<\/p>\n

But it wasn\u2019t the first time he was attacked.<\/p>\n

In 2023, Watkins was taken hostage by fellow inmates and beaten for over six hours over a $1,200 drug debt he supposedly owed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the second time someone has slashed his throat.
