Max Verstappen enters this weekend’s United States Grand Prix on a strong run of form, which has seen him enter contention for a fifth consecutive F1 drivers’ title.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Many assumed it was a straight fight between the McLaren drivers for the championship; however, Red Bull’s new floor has brought Verstappen back into the mix.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Since Red Bull introduced the new floor to the RB21 at Monza, Verstappen has claimed victories in the Italian and Azerbaijan GPs, and a second-place finish in Singapore.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Ahead of the lights going out in Monza, Verstappen sat 104 points behind championship leader Oscar Piastri, a gap which has been cut to 63.<\/p>\n
Verstappen is yet to finish a race behind either Piastri or Lando Norris since receiving the new floor, an upgrade which has transformed Red Bull’s car.\u00a0<\/p>\n
However, given the size of his deficit, the Dutchman must continue finishing ahead of both McLaren drivers across the final six races.<\/p>\n
One bad grand prix for the 28-year-old would end his slim title hopes, although the Circuit of the Americas has been a strong venue for him over the years.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Verstappen has claimed three of the last four United States GP victories, but finished third last season. Crucially, a good weekend is expected, given Red Bull’s new floor has worked at every circuit since it was introduced.<\/p>\n
