{"id":221958,"date":"2025-10-13T16:57:03","date_gmt":"2025-10-13T16:57:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/221958\/"},"modified":"2025-10-13T16:57:03","modified_gmt":"2025-10-13T16:57:03","slug":"aaron-glenn-justin-fields-took-a-step-back-in-his-fifth-game","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/221958\/","title":{"rendered":"Aaron Glenn: Justin Fields &#8220;took a step back&#8221; in his fifth game"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After Sunday\u2019s loss to the Broncos, during which the Jets offense gave new meaning to the term \u201coffensive,\u201d coach Aaron Glenn <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/nfl\/profootballtalk\/rumor-mill\/news\/aaron-glenn-bristles-at-question-regarding-possible-justin-fields-benching\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">bristled at a question<\/a> regarding whether he\u2019d bench starting quarterback Justin Fields.<\/p>\n<p>By Monday morning, Glenn had a more measured response, after reflecting on the question that was asked about whether Fields should sit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you look at what Justin did, the games that he played,\u201d Glenn told reporters. \u201cListen, I didn\u2019t think he was bad at all. I actually thought he did some pretty good things in those four games. In this fifth game, <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MySportsUpdate\/status\/1977740869332508759\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">he took a step back<\/a>. I\u2019m with you guys 100 percent. And we can\u2019t have that. And we have to get better than that. And he knows that. Ann he knows that better than anyone. So I don\u2019t think you try to bench a player after having one true bad game. Because I thought the other games he played fairly well.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>This opens the door to potentially benching Fields if he has another bad game. <\/p>\n<p>And Sunday\u2019s game was bad. Minus-10 net passing yards, fueled by nine sacks. Fields repeatedly held the ball for too long.<\/p>\n<p>The Jets host the suddenly-hot Panthers on Sunday before playing the Bengals in Cincinnati. Then comes the bye.
