{"id":222587,"date":"2025-10-13T22:56:04","date_gmt":"2025-10-13T22:56:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/222587\/"},"modified":"2025-10-13T22:56:04","modified_gmt":"2025-10-13T22:56:04","slug":"nancy-meyers-pays-tribute-to-diane-keaton-after-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/222587\/","title":{"rendered":"Nancy Meyers Pays Tribute to Diane Keaton After Death"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tFilmmaker <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/nancy-meyers\/\" id=\"auto-tag_nancy-meyers\" data-tag=\"nancy-meyers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nancy Meyers<\/a> has paid tribute to her longtime friend and frequent collaborator <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/diane-keaton\/\" id=\"auto-tag_diane-keaton\" data-tag=\"diane-keaton\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Diane Keaton<\/a>, the Oscar-winning actor who <a data-id=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/film\/news\/diane-keaton-dead-annie-hall-1236546710\/\" data-type=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/film\/news\/diane-keaton-dead-annie-hall-1236546710\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">died on Saturday at 79<\/a>. Meyers described Keaton as \u201cfearless\u201d and \u201cborn to be a movie star.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThese past 48 hours have not been easy. Seeing all of your tributes to Diane has been a comfort. As a movie lover, I\u2019m with you all \u2013 we have lost a giant. A brilliant actress who time and again laid herself bare to tell our stories,\u201d Meyers wrote on Instagram. \u201cAs a woman, I lost a friend of almost 40 years \u2013 at times over those years, she felt like a sister because we shared so many truly memorable experiences. As a filmmaker, I\u2019ve lost a connection with an actress that one can only dream of.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMeyers and Keaton first worked together in 1987 on \u201cBaby Boom\u201d and then again on the 1991 \u201cFather of the Bride\u201d remake and its 1995 sequel. They reunited on 2003\u2019s box office hit \u201cSomething\u2019s Gotta Give,\u201d co-starring Jack Nicholson and Keanu Reeves.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cWe all search for that someone who really gets us, right? Well, with Diane, I believe we mutually had that. I always felt she really got me so writing for her made me better because I felt so secure in her hands. I knew how vulnerable she could be,\u201d Meyers continued. \u201cAnd I knew how hilarious she could be, not only with dialogue (which she said word for word as written but managed to always make it sound improvised) but she could be funny sitting at a dinner table or just walking into a room.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMeyers also offered some insight into Keaton\u2019s acting process, highlighting a sequence in \u201cSomething\u2019s Gotta Give\u201d where her character is weeping while writing: \u201cShe went at it hard and then somehow made it funny. And I remember she would sometimes spin in a kind of goofy circle before a take to purposely get herself off balance or whatever she needed to shed so she could be in the moment.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMeyers acknowledged that she wasn\u2019t alone in feeling a cinematic connection to Keaton, whose long and indelible career included Francis Ford Coppola\u2019s \u201cGodfather\u201d films and Woody Allen\u2019s \u201cAnnie Hall,\u201d \u201cLove and Death\u201d and \u201cManhattan.\u201d Keaton won an Oscar for \u201cAnnie Hall\u201d and was nominated again for \u201cReds,\u201d \u201cMarvin\u2019s Room\u201d and \u201cSomething\u2019s Gotta Give.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cBut the truth is \u2013 Diane didn\u2019t just \u2018get me.\u2019 I\u2019ve watched all of her groundbreaking spectacular work with Woody Allen a million times and I watch her performance in Warren Beatty\u2019s \u2018Reds\u2019 with awe. Diane did exactly the same for them because that is what she does. She goes deep. And I know those who have worked with her know what I know\u2026 she made everything better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMeyers ended her heartfelt tribute by saying that she already misses Keaton, who \u201cchanged my life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cEvery set up, every day, in every movie, I watched her give it her all. She was fearless, she was like nobody ever, she was born to be a movie star, her laugh could make your day and for me, knowing her and working with her \u2013 changed my life,\u201d she concluded. \u201cThank you Di.
